This is from the OBC's press conference watching tape of our Arky game to prepare for them this week:

I bolded that one part. Knowing Spurrier, no way in hell that's not intentional

I imagine he's saying he's surprised staff was forced to play him. Spurrier has no problem trying a different QB.

It does seem that Tyler has some great touch on his throws. It seems so effortless. I wonder if any of you statisticians have the amount of drops thus far from the receivers with Murphy as QB.

I believe he said something similar before. I think it is a little zing. SOS rotates QB's more often then he changes his underwear. I think SOS would have given Murphy a shot, considering Driskel's performance. If SOS was our coach against Miami, I guarantee you Driskel does not finish that game.

SOS probably wouldn't have gone 11-2 last year either.

There are two factors that may have a big impact on Murph's emergence. One is acknowledged by the staff, and that is the concentrated work he got for the first 8 days of camp when JD was out with appendicitis; along with his own work ethic that has been in evidence all along. The other is mentioned in passing, but only in passing. That is personal coaching from Leak. Someone posted a video of them working one on one back in August. I think Murphy is exhibiting a lot of Leak's characteristics, only with better scrambling ability.

I do not see any reason to fault the staff for "overlooking" him. He is actually working with his third offensive staff: Urban, Weis, Pease. I assume that it just wasn't there until now, or one of them would have seen the potential. Fortunately, for the Gators it is there when needed. I am just thankful that someone helped a two star QB be ready when called to produce in the toughest league of all, and leave it at that.

Oh, and who cares what Spurrier says? Certainly not Champ. Maybe he will have his team better prepared when they meet the Gators this year than last year. Maybe not.

You mean right after the Jordan Reed fumble at the goal after JD drove them down field?

If you ask me "he must have looked good in practice down there" means to be the #2 QB.

Spurrier hasn't had a good QB in a decade. We don't need his advice.

    Spurrier seems smitten w/ Murphy!

Someone should tell him he has a Clown(y) to worry about !!

Or when he was caught riding a scooter w/ jean shorts on!

I would have said sometime before the 4th Qtr. It was obvious after 3 Qtrs, Driskel was not going to get the job done absent a miracle.

I certainly would have given Murphy a shot after the fumble. If anything, give Murphy a series, if he doesn't perform, put Driskel back in.

Knowing SOS, he might have pulled the trigger in the 2nd.

Seems kind of crazy to put someone in the game that has never played a meaningful snap in the 3 QT of a close game. If SOS would have done it it would have been earlier. Last year would have been different as well because he would have probably played everybody in 2012. Who knows what the results of that would have been in the WIN LOSS column.

So if Trey and Dunbar run the right route and we get a first down and score that would have been a miracle to you?

Which of course begs the question, would SOS given Murphy a shot already? I think so.

After several games last year, including UGA, I think SOS would have given him a shot. He may have already been the starting QB.

The reason Spurrier is my all time favorite coach is because he is aware that just because a QB is winning for you, it doesn't mean that he's your best QB. After we had so many poor offensive performances last year, I'm sure Spurrier would have given someone else a shot.
