I think this has 2 parts to it. 1) I think he is truly praising Murphy 2) I think there may be a twinge of criticism in there - i.e. this kid hasn't made it on the field after 3 years.

SOS is always a source of entertainment. Seeking meaning in his words is like reading meaning into Dylan's songs.

    Sounds sincere to me

Murph's success Sat. is a great story on many levels. Why can't Spurrier just be commenting on a fabulous day for a deserving player? Spurrier was watching the game at his house in Crescent Beach. When it's all said and done in his career, he is a Gator, in fact the Bull Gator of all time. The Cocks are the enemy and he coaches em, I get it.
Is there some animosity between him and Will that I don't know of? I only think he gigs his enemies/rivals.
I also think SOS is always for the gators (especially vs UT), except on game week against us.

I didn't really read it as a criticism but more of "the kid earned his shot".

I think he wishes Tyler were under center for the gamecocks next weekend.

SOS said what we all were thinking. The only critical part of what happened Saturday is what I was thinking, which is why hasn't this kid gotten a chance previously? If some want to read that into what SOS said, I don't know about that. I'm sure that most fans, which SOS is, would be wondering why was TM riding the bench for so long?

I like that he is sort of checking up on us. I can't wait until he retires and comes home.

I don't see any underlying message in his statement. I think he's just being complimentary to Murph.

Nobody was wondering until he finally got his chance yesterday. There was a string of posts in here just last week somewhere wondering about who should start if Driskel goes down. All they talked about were the new guys. If somebody mentioned Tyler, they said on second thought never mind. I just can't say how happy I am about how this kid answered the bell. He could just as easily have passed through here without ever getting a chance.

Spurrier was bound to tip his visor to a Gator after such an impressive and important performance.

Let me clarify.. Murphy wasn't a thought in my mind prior to Saturday..The wondering I was referring to was after watching his performance, I was 'wondering' how could a kid seemingly as poised and talented as he is be buried on the bench for so many years?
