I had read earlier that our spring game drew 35,000 and reading the Birmingham News this morning read an article of the Top 15 turnouts in 2014. So here they are: 1. Penn State (72,000) Free 2. Tennessee (68,548) Free 3. Nebraska (61,772) $10 *** Who says they don't have the best fan base??? *** 4. Ohio St (61,058) $5 5. Georgia (46,073) 6. Oklahoma (43,500) 7. USCe (36,412) Free 8. FSU (36,400) Free **** I have to laugh this one off - the most embarrassing school in college **** 9. Florida (35,834) $5 10. Clemson (33,000) 11. Notre Dame (27,986) 12. Louisville (27,500) Free 13. LSU (18,565) Free **** Another laugher; seriously, there are high schools that draw more fans **** 14. Michigan (15,000) Free **** Another reason why their program sucks **** 15. Indiana (9,231) Free First, amazing Penn St can draw that many fans given the state of their program. Tennessee too. Nebraska could draw 60,000 fans even if they charged full amount. Missing from that Top 15 is the reason the article was written - Alabama and Auburn have their spring game this afternoon. The gist of the article pretty says push the Top 15 down 2 pegs and make way for the most diehard fans in all of college sports. I can't argue the numbers because if both draw what they did last year then it makes our numbers look like a service academy. I'm wondering if we should have made it free. Would it have boosted our numbers? I understand the low numbers given the state of our own program and much of the fan base is wary of Muschamp's changes, yet again. But I have to really laugh at FSU's awful fan base. The worst fan base in all of college football. You can quote me on that Dot since you are reading this 36K to see your national champion and it's a free game. P A T H E T I C.
