I had read earlier that our spring game drew 35,000 and reading the Birmingham News this morning read an article of the Top 15 turnouts in 2014. So here they are:

    1. Penn State (72,000) Free
    2. Tennessee (68,548) Free
    3. Nebraska (61,772) $10 *** Who says they don't have the best fan base??? ***
    4. Ohio St (61,058) $5
    5. Georgia (46,073)
    6. Oklahoma (43,500)
    7. USCe (36,412) Free
    8. FSU (36,400) Free **** I have to laugh this one off - the most embarrassing school in college ****
    9. Florida (35,834) $5
    10. Clemson (33,000)
    11. Notre Dame (27,986)
    12. Louisville (27,500) Free
    13. LSU (18,565) Free **** Another laugher; seriously, there are high schools that draw more fans ****
    14. Michigan (15,000) Free **** Another reason why their program sucks ****
    15. Indiana (9,231) Free

First, amazing Penn St can draw that many fans given the state of their program. Tennessee too. Nebraska could draw 60,000 fans even if they charged full amount.

Missing from that Top 15 is the reason the article was written - Alabama and Auburn have their spring game this afternoon. The gist of the article pretty says push the Top 15 down 2 pegs and make way for the most diehard fans in all of college sports. I can't argue the numbers because if both draw what they did last year then it makes our numbers look like a service academy. I'm wondering if we should have made it free. Would it have boosted our numbers? I understand the low numbers given the state of our own program and much of the fan base is wary of Muschamp's changes, yet again. But I have to really laugh at FSU's awful fan base. The worst fan base in all of college football. You can quote me on that Dot since you are reading this:) 36K to see your national champion and it's a free game. P A T H E T I C.

Penn State and UT fans are really hungry to return to prominence. Doesn't PSU still have another year of probation? I hope Franklin gives Meyer a run for his money. Tired of seeing that league be a 1 or 2 horse show.

Michigan getting 15K fans is pretty sad...but shows the complacency of where there program has fallen. They should have let Rich Rod stick around and gave him time. If they don't win this year Hoke is gone.

What is LSU's regular turnout for their spring game? That figure seems very low.

FSU got 36K for several home games just 2, 3 years ago! Wouldn't surprise me if that number is significantly inflated.

From my viewing of the noles spring game on tv it sure didn't seem that full. Maybe Winston did the counting.

Is attendance at a Spring Game relevant to anything in the Universe?

For 30,000 people to actually bother showing up for something which is nothing whatever but experimentation with backups and hopefully some preparation for the next year, appears like a waste of time and effort to most people, which is why there are only a limited number of attendees even for free events.

I don't know. Maybe some of the fans of certain programs just enjoy a nice spring day in the Swamp (or other stadium) to, you know, watch the team wear their colors and show some of their skills. ;)

They never really have a large turnout for the spring games, but they show up in full force in the fall. lol

It'll be a ridiculous number. It's the state of Alabama after all.

All of the stadiums will be packed in the fall. Spring games are a perk for those who live close. I don't think too many people spend a lot of money to travel to a spring game.

There is nothing that relates to CFB that the SEC does not dominate. Nothing. Revenues, wins, cheating, books, fans, money, future NFL players, just forget it, it is over, the race is for second place and the occasionally interruption in SEC domination like FSU beating Au-Cheat.

And the only reason TXAM is not on this list is probably because they haven't played yet. TXAM in the SEC is just unfair.

The crowd of more than 73,000 marked the largest for spring games nationally but the smallest of the Nick Saban era at Alabama.

The luster not so gleaming anymore?

Cecil, I don't think you need to go there considering FSU has had enough infractions on their own to make up for the entire SEC. This thing with Winston isn't over considering the DoJ is looking into it. You guys might own the Tally Police, but now you have to sit back and watch it all unfold. Sad thing is, FSU might have to hand back their trophy if Winston is found guilty and his Heisman too.

Not defending GT's crowd, but the weather that day was pretty nasty. You can see the people huddled under the skybox where there was a little protection.
