For the third time in four games, Casey Prather earns MVG for his performance in the 67-53 victory over the Southern Jaguars. Casey scored 10 points with 9 rebounds and 4 assists to earn 68 value credits. Dorian Finney-Smith again made the most of his 21 minutes on court scoring 8 points, pulling down 7 rebounds and handing out 2 assists before fouling out of the game to earn 52 credits. Patric Young nosed out several players to take the third spot, leading the Gators in scoring with 12 points, grabbing 6 boards and playing tough on defense with 3 blocks for a value score of 50.

Team statistics showed the Gators were successful defending the 3-point line, holding the Jags to 19% shooting and played solid overall D forcing 12 turnovers. Offensively, the Gators had an ok 15/9 assist/turnover ratio but shot a mediocre 40% from the field. Florida's huge 43-29 advantage on the boards was the biggest statistical contributor to their victory.

I really like the rebounding Finney-Smith brings to the table.

This was a really interesting game in that almost everyone who played much scored at least 34 (Kurtz) on this scaling.

Having watched the game, I am a little surprised that Prather would be MVP by such a large margin, given his shooting woes and I actually thought Young would score higher (forgot about his turnovers and of course there is no way to give credit for setting screen, blocking out, etc). If he hadnt gotten hurt, have to think Hill would have been MVP. Kid was playing great.

NO negative hit for fouls committed? Interesting formula, just trying to understand the rationale better. Thanks.

    - Prather rung up a higher value score with points scored and leading the team in both assists and rebounds
    - Patric Young never gets enough credit in the box score for his defensive presence and screens
    - Fouls are too nebulous to put a negative factor on them. Some are positive from a defensive perspective
