Remember that they nearly took out Gonzaga in the first round of the tournament last year.

They have a lot of athleticism and are very well-coached. They lost all 3 of those games due to free throws, so if you make the free throws you will win. This team is much better than what you saw against Gonzaga in the tournament, they have much more size and talent on the team now. They have about 4 players on the team that can light up the score board with Banks slashing to the basket at the guard position, Miller from the perimeter, Godfrey is kind of like Prather, and Johnson coming off the bench.

I think it will be close until the end. Gators 83-78.

Southern's personal foul totals so far this season are mind-boggling. They must do a lot of hand-checking, no longer permissible. Marquette was 33 of 53 from the charity stripe against Southern. Southern rotates 10 guys, so they have plenty of fouls to give. Ought to be a relatively long game with lots of stoppages.

Another good test for the Gators. We have to be able to make our free throws in order to win big games in the SEC and the tournament beyond. Patrick will be fouled often when the game is on the line and he must be able to hit more than half his free throws down the stretch. I am anxious to see our team in a couple of weeks when Scotty returns but it will be fun to watch them tonight with the lineup we will have on the floor.

The best thing about basketball is that there is a "pre-season" to get acclimated for the conference play and the tournament. Loses are embarrassing but more teaching moments than catastrophic.
