I think the word "cattle" should be added to the title.

Sorry for error on the title but it has been corrected. I didn't even notice it initially but certainly would be a totally different story.

LOL. No worries. Thanks for fixing.

I opened the thread with an uneasy apprehension.

I mean, I'm sad for the cattle and all, but...

Same thing happened to Teddy Roosevelt. He left after a blizzard killed his cattle in the Dakota's but ended up President instead of a rancher.

Another unanticipated consequence of the government shutdown (not the loss of the cattle, but disaster assistance for the ranchers).

I've been reading this board and I know the only important things that have been shutdown are our National Parks. I'm also sure the board's Republicans and Right Wingers will agree with me that the govt. shouldn't be bailing out those ranchers. If they didn't want their cattle to die from the cold, then they shouldn't have built their ranches in South Dakota. The free market will fix this eventually.

I am totally against farm aid.Yep, it totally distorts the market. The only time I want the government involved is when people dump farm products into the market or when they try to import unsafe products (I'm looking at you China).

if it occurs in a red state and fed govt comes to rescue it is 'disaster assistance'

but if it disaster occurs in a blue state the red states scream 'handout', 'commie social relief program'. etc, etc

funny thing is----the money from states that goes into disaster relief comes primarily from blue states....and the states that get most disaster relief money are----red states

thankfully, the ranchers can rely on blue states to help them out in their time of need.

any bet the TP tries to link disaster relief to a bill to defund ACA?

You have a point, I mean Hussein just gave Detroit $300mil. Call it what you want. This freakin' global warming has got to stop. We are suppose to have NO snow according to the climate scientists and yet we do. Not only do have snow but it's killer snow and it's all man's fault. Dang SUV's.....

It's more likely Holly wood would make a overly endowed with lame special effects movie about it
