One thing I have taken away from the Muschamp regime is that officials DESPISE him. Look no further than today for reinforcement of this. He screams at officials and they just tune him out and today I could have sworn I saw a ref roll their eyes at our coach. Mind you, this is an SEC vs ACC game in our home stadium with SEC officials. We can't even get the 50/50 calls in a situation like this. The egregious offensive pass interference call for example when Purifoy's jersey was yanked back as the fsu receiver broke away for the TD.

I honestly believe in my heart of hearts that if the referees didn't despise our coach they wouldn't turn a blonde eye to obvious calls like that we should be getting and the numerous times Dante was held in the trenches which went uncalled except for one time.

Foley needs to address this behind closed doors with the SEC and NCAA head of officials if he really is going to retain Muschamp. We absolutely cannot be going into games at a disadvantage from an officiating standpoint, who are supposed to be neutral. In my opinion officials have a bias against our coach whether overt or not.

The refs have always hated UF for some reason even before Muschamp.

While I agree that undisciplined rants at Refs have little effect, I offer this: What do Charlie Pell, Galen Hall, Steve Spurrier, Ron Zook, Urban Meyer, and Will Muschamp all have in common? When they were at UF, they had the most penalized team in the SEC. Coincidence? I think not.

It's not really a surprise. We've never had likable coaches (outside of Zook) and that doesn't sit well with the media or the officials.

It's the age-old "You ain't from around here, are ya, boy?" mentality. We're further removed geographically and culturally from "them thar hills" than any other school in the league.

I will agree he needs to calm down. He is a crazy man on the sidelines. Even with his own players.
I feel he is out of control much of the time. So is Saban, but not at officials. Watch other coaches.
I'll use Les Miles at LSU. He's always in control of his actions.

    OK...hit me!

WM has alluded to this being true, but if that's the case, running a ball control offense is dumb. That depends on you always being on "schedule" which we can't do if we are going to face systematic biases from the refs. Need a system that can pick up a lot of yards fast to make up for that disadvantage.

A little sideline display here and there can be useful, but Muschamp's hystrionics got old a while back. They don't fire up the troops, they don't sway the refs - if anything, they're counterproductive. He needs to find a better way to get his points across.

    Jeremy Foley is absolutely clueless.

First of all he calls a big press conference just before we get spanked to just "lube it up."

Then when asked about Zooker (who got fired for a LOT less) and how this situation is different he just responds "I feel different this time."

Really? You make decisions based on how you "feel"? No objective criteria whatsoever? Dead last in the SEC in offense? Two failed OCs? First losing record since the Jimmy Carter days? Getting pounded by Vandy and Georgia Southern at home? None of those objective criteria matter? Just how you feel?

If only your job depended on how WE the Gator Boosters felt about you Jeremy! Poor Ron Zook, 9 years later the poor bastard still gets called worst hire in Gator history even though Will Muschamp is light years away when it comes to futility.

Foley would feel the same if there was an Urban Meyer out there. There isn't.

Not really, misery does not belong geographically, athletically or culturally. They are the farthest removed from the good ol' boy network.

We are hated because we pose the BIGGEST THREAT to the good ol' boy network.

This is the best post I have ever read on this site. Wow nailed if and I know you're emotional but still every word you said makes sense. Foley is essentially gambling with Gator Nation's money.

And he also says the comparison to Zook "isn't apples to apples". Oh yeah? how exactly???

    Foley has lost me.

Foley is playing a game of Texas Hold 'Em where he is currently going all in. Next year we find out what the dealer has. If it falls apart, Foley is gone along with Muschamp.

Even more now. It's true, refs really loathe this guy bc he is a maniac towards them. It's very similar to Pelini at Nebraska

While that part is definitely true, it is also true that they don't think of us as PART OF such a network, and the reasons for that are part of what might be called SEC culture/psychology. I'll be blunt: We're not one of the hick schools.

Right but Foley is saying you can't make that direct comparison because its not apples to apples, for whatever reason.

Zook had a better record, developed players better, recruited better, hired a better staff, had a better record against rivals. By pretty much any measure he is a better coach. But according to Foley these comparisons aren't fair. I guess because Zook wasn't owed 8 million dollars.
