There's a LOT that I hated about the game today, but there were a few things that left me surprisingly optimistic for the rest of the season.

    1. Kelvin Taylor finally got a shot. It's long over-due, and it sucks that it took injuries for the coaches to put him in there, but oh well. About 99% of us knew the kid had more talent than what we have been putting out there, so it's a little frustrating it took so long. But hey, I'll take it.

    2. Fulwood and Robinson were finally a part of the offense. Obviously the receivers have not been an issue, but it's nice to know we have depth there.

    3. Murphy played smart, and there were plenty of opportunities for him to make a "big" mistake. He never did and we had a shot to win the game towards the end because of it.

    4. Our defense is still very good. What a surprise.

Anyone else see some positives today?

    5. We may have found a kicker.

    6. Murphy may also be our best punter.

And we had a very cool trick fake punt, and a great call on a 4th down that worked.

I'd say that about sums up the pros. Maybe the fact that we tried to run two different RB screens, although then you have to acknowledge that they both got blown up because evidently the DE was unblockable (uncuttable?) And at the end he was even untouchable. I sure wish we had that guy!

Executed a fake punt against the team that usually does it to us?

    Eh, that's all I got.

    7. Our TE's were finally getting involved in the passing game, even if we didn't throw it to them. Burton was open three or four times today.

Defense did good, but LSU was trying to play keepaway in the second half and barely threw the ball. That's a good offense, though, so I give our guys a lot of credit.

Taylor made a few nice runs and Pease totally killed that drive by calling pass plays. If he didn't make any major mistakes in pass protection or blocking, then he will certainly get more carries next week.

Although there was some miscommunication with the receivers on a few plays, there was a series late in the game where we were throwing quick short passes. I've long argued for this kind of passing game as a way to loosen the defense, gain some confidence, draw in the coverage. Hope to see more of that, too.

Funny, the best punt of the day was from our quarterback, and our best pass of the day was from our punter...

Defense played great except two penalties that gave away the game, ironically, other than the awful offense protection that they couldn't score.

Just that the OL needs to be overhauled in real time with the recruiting.

And unfortunately, a loss this year is inevitable for him with all of our issues on offense

With how bad we played we still only lost by 9 points at one of the toughest places to play.
