Facing unfamiliar Austin Peay (OVC Champions) in our first regional game, I figured we could use some scouting. And, as always, by "scouting" I mean "numbers picked up from 30 seconds on the other team's website."

Looks like AP can hit the hell out of the ball. A .315/.402/.458 team batting line.

The big hitter is Craig Massoni, who's hitting .388/.479/.683. Cody Hudson is raking to the tune of .365/.404/.504. And it just keeps going; Jonathan Hankins is .351/.455/.548. There are six regulars with OBPs over .400.

Their best starter appears to be Lee Ridenhour, who is 7-1 with a 2.22 ERA and 64 Ks in 77 innings. There's also Casey Delgado, who has started 15 games with a 4.83 ERA but 100 strikeouts in 91 innings.

    Stats here.

He's only pitched once in the past month, and that was in their championship game. Last outing before that was a ND start against the same team on 4/26 (6 1/3 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 2 K, 97 pitches).

Also looks like they have a pretty good closer. Need to scratch out a few runs early.

I remember when Austin Peay came to play us back in '99 or '00 at the Mac. Brought a nice group of fans. When they strung a couple of hits their bunch got up and began to yell "Lets go Peay! Lets go Peay!" Some UF frat boys proceeded to yell "Lets go $h*t! Lets go $h*t!" In unison and headed for the bathrooms. Absolutely hilarious if you were there.

When we lived in Tn, we visited Clarksville often. They also had a couple of other sayings on banners but the following is the best:

Does any team in tourney have a shortstop with a lower ba than florida?

Rather incredible these days for a major d1 program to have that kind of hole, especially at ss. Ought to let the pitchers hit and dh for him.
