I liken LSU to Arkansas. They are going to be real tough to beat at home, but on the road, anything can happen with them.

LSU is confusing...I thought this year they would be tough but so far I have seen zero evidence they are even above average.

The tiggers have some players. O'Bryant, Mickey, Stringer and Hickey are good.

They, like the rest of the decent SEC teams, just lack consistency.

They have the players...but it's not working and coming together which is why they are strange. They have talent, but it's not showing on the court very often.

You could add the reserves from the Gators and Cats together and have the 3rd best team.

We made UT look very bad but they beat a very good Virginia team in a similar way. We will have a tough battle when we play them at their place. Ole Miss has yet to face their tougher part of their schedule. I believe when we get to tournament time, it will Tennessee who is the 3rd best team in the SEC but they may not make it to the Big Dance.

I sure don't look for us to blow Tenn out in their arena. They are going to be smarting big time from the whipping they took in the O'Dome and fired up to no end for the rematch. The crowd should be crazy wild too.

    With Stokes, it's Tennessee.

Outside of Kentucky, he scares me more than any player in the league.

He is an absolute beast. Reminds me of jared sullinger but more athletic and less offensively polished. I hope he goes in this draft...

LSU and Missouri both looked good in somewhat surprising victories last night.

Combine LSU's front line with Missouri's backcourt and you would easily have a top 10 team.

Ole Miss is at Tennessee tonight. Big game for both teams

Johnny O'Bryant has become a force down low. Those turnaround jumpers he was hitting last night were almost silly. Patric will have his hands full with him. I was very impressed by LSU last night. The win over Kentucky may be the knock on the head LSU needed to finally start playing to their potential. Before the season I thought they had a good shot at being #3 or 4 in the league.

Hall, I'm not sure that would be true, but it is an interesting thought. I think if they had guys behind them other than walk-on types, they would win their fair share of games. Unfortunately, other than Poly-Sci (I Like that) and Finney-Smith, aren't they all freshmen.

Depending on what we mean by reserves, there should be a few non-freshmen. From the Gators, I assume that So. D. Walker and Jr. Carter would count. I'm not as clear on the Wildcats, but I think that they have So. Poythress coming off the bench. But then again, the Wildcat starters are freshmen too, and they're still top 2 in the conference, so maybe it doesn't matter so much.

    Zero evidence?
    Ummm....they just beat Kentucky.

They see if we beat Kentucky even once before we declare ourselves King.

I posted that before the game. Don't call me out like a d*** when you aren't intelligent enough to read a time stamp. Before UK, LSU hadn't show that level of play the entire season.

I don't disagree. My post was mainly meant to be tongue-in-cheek but it would be an interesting and talented group

Arkansas at home is the 3rd best team. On the road they are probably 8th or 9th.

Thought I would Resurrect this thread, which I started on Jan 26, since we are now some 6 games farther into the schedule and a mere 7 games short of the season's end. Of course, all positions in the final SEC standings remain open to debate, although the Gators look pretty good for 1st and Ky for 2nd

Anyway, I compiled the votes, and, supporting The Wisdom of Crowds, they look pretty good right now, with Georgia being the REAL Oddity. The votes were (I leave out facetious, like UF+UK reserves [2 votes] and Oklahoma State. The number of votes then the team name:
    11 - Ole Miss
    09 - Tennessee
    03 - LSU
    02 - Missou & Arky
    01 - Miss State, Georgia

GatorLife about Georgia - "Georgia's only two losses were to UF and UK on the road... Just sayin'." I should perhaps have counted that as a vote for the dogs, but didn't - only actual votes counted. Those who noted two, I included a vote for both.

Right now, Kentucky (9-2) has a 2 game lead on Georgia (amazing) and Ole Miss (7-4), with LSU & Tennessee tied next at 6-5, Vandy at 5-5, Tex A&M at 5-6, then we get down to the losing records, Missou & Arky (4-6), Bama (4-7), Miss St & Auburn (3-8) and lowly South Carolina (1-9).

So basically, the original projections appear pretty accurate, with Georgia as the long shot interloper. Remaining games favor Tennessee, but only slightly:
Ole Miss plays: at UGA, UK, UF, Bama, at Tx A&M, at Arky (ouch), Vandy. Probably 3-4 additional losses.
Georgia plays: Ole Miss, at Tenn, at SC, Missou, at Arky (ouch), Miss St. & at LSU. Probably 3 additional losses.
LSU plays: at Arky (ouch), Miss St, at UK, Tx A&M, at Fla, at Vandy, UGA. Probably 3-4 additional losses.
Tenn plays: at Missou, UGA, at Tx A&M, at Miss St, Vandy, at Aub, Missou. Perhaps 2-3 additional losses.
Vandy plays: at SC, TxA&M, at Missou, at Aub, FLa, at Tenn, LSU, at Miss. Probably 3-4 additional losses.

So, at this point, it really looks like there might be a 3 or 4-way tie for 3rd place.

Whoops - just saw that Arky suspended two key players, so possibly the ouches for Ole Miss, Georgia and LSU are no longer ouches - perhaps Tennessee is not in as favored a position as they were.

    WOW!!!
