So true. The great thing is that he kept commenting about their character as if he knew the reason for the suspensions.

That's dan for ya. Most biased color commentator in college basketball. He gets his narrative and he's sticking to it!

I'm glad he called the suspended players out & I hope they had their TV volume on. Gators win by double digits if they play.

I really hope he covers one of our games later this season and DFS goes for an alleyoop from Scottie and 'accidentally' kicks him where the sun don't shine!

Between him and his broadcast partner (whom I have heard before but don't know his name) they leave a lot to be desired...when Prather went down with the injury, they said he had microfracture surgery back in May...no you dumbasses that was Yeguete! I can't believe these guys get paid six figures to say the wrong things....and yes I am pretty sure we had 3 players suspended....I didn't know what he was talking about the first couple times but after the 10th time I finally got it...

Props to him for sticky up for Billy and the suspensions even though they hurt the team.

At the beginning of the game sure and when Kasey fouled out it was worth mentioning, but he must have brought it up a dozen times and got on his soapbox about it every time as if he had never done anything wrong. Between timeouts and half time there's what roughly 60-80 minutes of actual air time, on average he brought it up every 5-7 minutes

He's a commentator and has every right to express his opinion. And it obviously is a big deal, considering how the suspensions are impacting our performance so far.

The problem is that he commented on it out ignorance. He has no clue what the suspensions are for and kept criticizing the kids personally. If you are talking about professionals, I don't have much of a problem with it, but it is out of bounds with amateurs in my opinion.

They didn't get suspended for planting daisies or helping old ladies cross the street. They violated team rules. Hard to get worked up because someone pointed it out, even if it was as often as it was.

Thats kinda my thinking. It shouldn't be harped on like it was, but its a safe assumption by anyone to assume the players were being irresponsible and breaking rules - whether thats drugs or attendance/cheating related issues. Unless there are wildly different causes for minor, short-term suspensions (we're talking a handful of games here), I don't see why anyone would have to know exactly what the offense is before they can have some sort of feeling about the implications.

Agreed. The suspensions were big stories, and it was right for the announcers to talk about it. But we really only need to hear you say you have no sympathy for them once or twice, Dan. We got it the first time.

I thought it was fine. If ESPN had run a banner that said "You let the team down" for the entire game I would have been fine with it. Some young people need things pounded into their heads repeatedly.

Yes, repeated national humiliation is exactly what is called for. Too bad they couldn't televise tar and feathers.

That announcer was so far over the line, the line was past the horizon.
