and this mentality is why so many are so frustrated with the average gubmnt worker. I want my week off, and I want the back pay, so it becomes a free week of vacation for me. Yippee and goody for me.

I hope for shutdown with no back pay

It would be nice if it shutdown for a long time.. maybe we will see that we can get by with a lot less bureaucracy.

It will be as painful as sequestration was.

You know, that thing that was supposed to bring the world to a screeching halt, that no one has even noticed...

We must CUT the size of government to save this nation. Period.

It isn't rocket science, but some are just philosophically opposed to the notion of limited government. Their philosophy is flat-out WRONG and IMMORAL. Big government is the ultimate evil.

I have nonrefundable airplane tickets to CA. We intended to visit Yosemite.

I'm going to be able to tell the difference because all the national parks are closed

The debt ceiling negotiations are coming up next so they might get a permanent vacation with no pay if the House wants to slow the national debt down... which they should.

There's a silver lining in this IMO.

First of all, lets realize that the MAIN REASON we are having this fight on Capital Hill is because the OA has printed and squandered another $1.2 trillion dollars and added it to the national debt.

That said, I've heard some Republican pundits like Krauthammer, Rove, etc., say that this was a fight we should have left alone, but I disagree.

Let this "shut-down" go on for about a week, or even two, and have the media keep running their mouths about how bad everything is because of it, but when in reality, nobody really cares that much. Many have been desensitized to it. I've been listening to local talk radio and so many people call in complainging about the new texting law that went into effect last night or Obamacare, but not about the shut-down itself.

They don't care. They know it's just a bunch of sensational hooey from the Obama administration.

Just like the sequester. The OA and media cheerleaders tried their best to make it out to be as bad as possible but after a few days, almost everyone realized it didn't affect them and they went on with their lives.

The point I'm trying to make is that the left's "Chicken Little - The sky is falling" crisis fiction is beginning to PO the American People. Every time Obama wants his way, he goes on t.v. and acts like a helpless little victim, that everything is always the Republcians' fault, his media cheerleaders run with it, and then the Right caves. Well, not this time.

We all woke up this morning, went to work, the country hasn't self-destructed, and everyone got their checks, even many of the welfare bums who are sucking this country dry.

The next time the lefties try this stunt after they eventually print/borrow another $1.2 trillion, nobody is going to give a crap because they've been through it already and they'll know it's just posturing.

Wjat's galling is that started because the Democrats are elitists who think they are above the average American taxpaying voter anyway.

That and I just talked to my buddy who is an air traffic controller. They're not exactly sure what's happening because their HR is shut down. Might make flying interesting. Sad our politicians are still getting paid and these folks aren't.

I don't believe Obama and the Dems will have to own it no matter what. They and theirs will always blame someone else. When it's clear it's unsustainable and we have to borrow to support it then what?

While I don't think the Democrats would want to own it, to the America people they would(I hope). I do believe that the media would do it's best to prevent that, but hopefully our country isn't all hopeless.

Eventually, I think this is what will happen. The House republicans are using their Constitutional power to drive home the message to the American public who is responsible for the ACA, so that when it fails....
