They got past that after the Who was a total bust.
That's not who I wanted (I've been pimping Muse as the perfect halftime show on this board for years, though I'd say they've been replaced by The Black Keys), but that's who I expected them to put out there. I have a feeling Bruno Mars was not the first choice, and that several higher-profile acts flat out refused to do the show, given the conditions (9:00 PM, outside, in February, in New Jersey).
Say the NFL had offered the gig to Springsteen. Do you think he'd be stupid (or desperate) enough to commit to doing a show in a possible blizzard? Bruno Mars is the kind of young star who will take all the exposure he can get.
I think Muse would be good but Im not sure a lot of people would be into their style of music. I love them but its one of those bands you love or hate IMO.
Springsteen also did a recent SUper Bowl. They aren't likely to repeat artists when its a once a year event.
Daft Punk? That is probably the act I can think of who people have heard and liked more music from without knowing it than any other.
To me the real win would be to get U2, they still fill stadiums anyway, they are equal to the SuperBowl stage.
Muse would be sick for sure, I'll cut you some slack
Halftime show is probably going to be in the middle of a blizzard, so the act should be interesting regardless.
As a few folks have mentioned, the game is almost certainly going to be seriously cold.
The Farmer's Almanac is predicting a blizzard - http://www.boston.com/news/local/ne...-storm-bowl/74ZybLsaAGuXXyHGhacFCL/story.html
I am not sure about being turned down by bigger acts. Bruno Mars is one of the biggest acts around right now. Probably the biggest male act not named Justin Timberlake.
More people know of him that Muse for sure. Although I agree the spectacle of Muse is perfect for the Super Bowl.
Bruno Mars is very talented, tho I'm not a huge fan. Seems like a reach to attract more ladies to the audience. My wife is a big fan of his. Of course she liked Michael Jackson also.
As for Muse, 90% of the audience has never heard of them.
Can this guy hit his notes in the cold weather or we will have lip synching?
I really thought the SB HT act would be justin timberlake and jay z .
But Bruno Mars was probably a good pick.
Great singer - clean lyrics and has a now and then feel with his musical ability.
If you don't know of him, you should be happy with his performance.
This won't be a guitar solo filled hair flippin event.
I would not count out having another artist joining him on stage at some point to help hype the event.
Bruno Mars has a lot of good songs, but when he performs on shows he seems to try to do too much.
I think Train would have been a good halftime act. I know Sylez is a big fan!
He was just on tour in Florida and everyone that I talked to said his show was unbelievable. Great choice.
He is the perfect choice for the spinach/artichoke dip crowd. Soccer moms everywhere will rejoice and the mindless pigs on The View will fawn all over him.
I think they should get CM Punk for the half time show to sing.
what do you guys think?
Me too
