Sucks for him but sucks for Americans who like privacy as well.

Seems like there are so many other ways to communicate that make this type of monitoring ineffective. I use Skype and FaceTime overseas thru wifi. There are much lower profile services which have to be less traceable. Certainly it takes no effort to set up a fake Skype account.

Of course, you computer's MAC address is completely anonymous too, right?

    The MAC address?

I think you're thinking about the IP address...

You can create a phantom MAC address, but the original MAC is always present.

Snowdumb thinks we have issues with privacy and now lives in Russia. The home of putting opposition leaders in prison for that alone.

He jumped out of the suntan at the beach, for hell.

There is Mac address spoofing. Typically normal people wont ever see your mac address, but the FBI or a good hacker, plus your ISP can get it easily. A dynamic IP address won't help much, you're going to want to use proxies to even attempt hide your IP.
