Saw another gator board to expect him in January the username was bulllis. Same guy from here?
Yup. January does seem to be something others are pointing to as well - even, supposedly, including CWalker himself.
Loyal - I'm in agreement with you. Saw TONS of chicken littles on twitter today. Walker is a crazy talent, but I'm not sure how immediately it will translate to college. Not saying he won't be very effective this year, but he's competing against other good and experienced bigs. I'd view his loss as more of a depth issue than anything else.
If he comes in in January, does that mean he doesn't have to worry about eligibility at all for the spring semester (if he is only staying that one semester) since grades come out after the season is over? I feel dirty even asking this, but with one and dones school is basically an afterthought anyway.
For some school is an afterthought (for some of us it would be too), but for others its not. Yeah, you wouldn't have to worry about him not making the grades his fall semester. I'm pretty sure that's the issue Fab Melo had at syracuse two years ago when he couldn't play in the spring.
What matters with players that leave the program without graduating (transfers and any early entries) is whether or not they were on pace to graduate on time when they left. This means they have to take more than the minimum number of credits required for eligibility and, IMO, is why taking summer classes is so helpful for the freshmen that can make it in by that time (UK had a few that couldn't this year also). The only downside, that I know of at least, to players not being on pace is the APR hit it leaves the school open to.
Bullis is the best insider for Gator bball. If it is indeed the same poster than that would be great news.
I personally think he could give the Gators 15-20 great minutes off the bench. He's a game changer defensively and gives the Gators one of the deepest front courts in college basketball. Would give Billy D a lot of matchups to work with.
Bullis is everywhere....no Bull.
I agree. We are Final Four contenders with or without Walker.
Could be scary good if Walker plays and is as good as advertised?
Basically, I think we could win it all without Walker, but having him increases our chances, maybe greatly.
Lol. Well said!
http://www.gainesville.com/article/20130710/ARTICLES/130719948?tc=cr alittle c walker update... nothing really new tho still waiting
Bumping. It's been a while. Any fresh news here?
No, the question gets brought up periodically on other gator boards and the answer is still the same. Most think it is likely he won't be eligible until January.
If you can, check the premium board. Franz has been keeping us updated...
thanks for the update...
Well, knowing Franz from my past years as an insider his updates are something like this:
"Walker has been unstoppable in the class room and on the court. This kid has crazy jumping skills. His leap makes me seriously wonder if he can dunk from he three point line. I expect him to block 15 shots a game this year, he will break Anthony Davis' block record. Insiders in the program tell me they expect him to lead the SEC in rebounding. After watching him in a pickup game recently, I look for him to lead the NCAA. Yesterday Mushchamp approached him about being a special teams player on the field goal block team. Last night I had a dream that Caleb Sturgis was lining up for a 70 yard field goal in practice. Across from him were Speights, Walker and Dan Werner. I awoke in a sweat just as the ball passed the line if scrimmage. I dont know if they blocked the shot or not. Since Werner Speights and Sturgis all played for UF I know Walker will make it to UF."
The post is followed by 30 "insiders" saying they heard similar things and will then make ambiguous statements that hint they are really "in the know." One poster will question Franz as pumping sunshine and basing his statement on a YMCA pick up game. Franz will get pissy and threaten to ban the poster. That poster will never be heard from again.
You are forgetting about the posters who were wondering which 5 star recruits we would have to turn away because so many wanted to sign with the Gators.
Well played, sir. Well played.
Franz is back at GC?
