Any word on if he's in? When should we know??
Would that be Chris Walker you speak of?
I can't imagine this being something that is known much at all until its known entirely and officially. I saw some rumors (suggesting him not being cleared eventually) on another UF board but they don't seem to be anything more than speculation.
Still up in the air. He just passed his FCAT but there is probably another score (ACT or SAT?) that hasn't come in yet. Nobody knows at this point.
We probably don't know until July.
Think the worst and be pleasantly surprised and thankfully if he makes it in.
If he's taken the SAT and ACT at every opportunity, he should be pretty good at it. That said, high school students tend to peak after four or five tries. My daughter scored 29 on three consecutive tries, after getting a 25 on her first try. She finally got a 30 with no time left on the clock. Hopefully, Chris has a test-prep tutor. They are very expensive (we couldn't afford one) but they are good at teaching test strategies and tend to deliver results.
I wonder what the difference is between passing the FCAT and getting the minimum on the ACT or SAT.
He is getting the things done that need to get done. A couple things came down to the wire. He has a little time to get the other stuff in order. I'm confident he will get the help he needs to get everything in line. Just hope the Clearinghouse doesn't get involved and delay things into the Spring. Considering guys like Eric Bledsoe didn't get held up, it would bs if anything were to happen here. Positive mojo people.
On the Rivals basketball recruiting board, a gator poster mentioned that an "insider" on the gator board said he was JUCO bound. I'm a paying member on TOS, until my membership runs out, so I know what post he was referencing. The funny thing is that this was the first ever post by that "insider". Nobody in that thread had any idea who he was.
When did he post that? Time was running out on a couple things that would have been big problems, but they turned out ok this week. With a passing FCAT, and academics in range to allow him to walk at graduation, he is still able to satisfy the eligibility requirements at this point, and has time over the summer to improve anything lagging. It's up to him to get the rest done now, but he can get it done, and I'm confident he will.
It was posted a few days before he got the passing FCAT score.
That makes sense then. That was the last test date to get a passing score for this period, which would have prevented him from graduating in time to get enrolled for next basketball season if he didn't pass. That said, the FCAT is not a hard test, so it's not exactly a miracle that the score was passing. You can just imagine how many people drilled him on the importance of that test.
I find it a tad disconcerting that this kid is seemingly so unmotivated.
Wow, the wait is killing me. I hope Chris makes it in. 6'10" PF with game. AAU games, all-star games, high school games, with all this taking place he knows Basketball is his ticket. I hope he gets in and gets with others like Pat Y. who know that you need other skills in life to have a better chance at being successful in the long run. Come on Chris, a Pan handle superstar, the Gators are waiting with open arms!
Nobody cares that it appears that this kid "ain't got no pencil"? I mean, he is going to be representing our great university, how many times should it take a college student to get a minimally acceptable score? #lethimgopro
^^I agree. Selfishly, as a fan, I hope he gets in.
At the same time, this is the farce of college athletics.
Thank you Osiris for the scoop. The normally accurate Bullis had an earlier post that was not as hopeful. Things may have changed. I think we had football players who had to do this before in the summer. Fortunately the basketball season starts later in the year than football.
