I'm on board with the notion that this is brilliant work by someone's agent. I think this is nothing more than posturing to get AU to open up the checkbook. Texas is a great and I mean great gig but let's not forget two things. One, they still have a coach. I don't see them forcing Brown out. They'll try to encourage him to have a swan song season if he continues to lose winnable games, but he'll be there next year. Two, that job comes with a crap ton of baggage that even Brown has complained about. The LHN access to coaches, practices etc., has to have a certain personality to deal with the extra mess that even some of the greatest coaches out there don't want to mess with.

How much power does Bobby Lowder still have at Auburn? I can't imagine him sitting still for Malzahn jumping without getting his payday.

What is it with these SEC coaches and their dream jobs elsewhere?

Lowder, is no longer on he Board of Trustees. His bank, Colonial went FDIC with estimated $2.8B pricetag. I would be very suprised if he exerts any influence on Auburn Football.

Malzhan grew up in Arky during the old SWC era. Texas was the premiere program in that conference, even when the Horns sucked. And the Razorbacks always got a considerable portion of their kids from the state of Texas itself. It sort of stands to reason that Texas would be a preferred destination for him.

Come on GM, doesn't have a shot at Texas, Saban is going for 9 million a year. Mack is out and the Evil Genius will pack up and move on.
