The plot thickens. Realistically, I'm sure Texas is the dream job of most all coaches.
Could be Malzahn's ploy to get Auburn to open up the check book.
So now we've got Saban, Fisher, and Malzahn all fighting over who gets to be the next head coach at Texas? Nothing manufactured here, folks ...
pay raise for all
Jimmy Sexton represents all 3.
A no-lose situation for Jimmy boy...
especially since the job isnt even open
I can't stand Texas! When they are doing well tooooooo many band wagon fans here in Utah. They are more than welcome to take WM back. Haha. Texas really does under perform given the resources, money and recruiting advantages that they have.
Yup, he wins either way.
Coaching changes is all about the money. These guys make far too much, but that's the entertainment business for you.
Totally agree! The head coaches in college football make far too much money! Their pay should be based on performance! Give them a decent base salary (way less than $1M) and let them earn the rest via conference titles, and national championships.
And the current HC there has said that he plans on coaching until 2020.
Let's be honest here guys. It's the dream CFB job unless you have specific ties to a University(like you played there or you are a child hood fan or something). I mean Texas is the easiest school to recruit at in the country. You literally never have to leave the state and four and five stars sign with you as soon as they see the University of Texas caller ID. You have your own network, they have endless money, and a rapid fan base that travels well and top notch facilities.
UF is certainly near Texas of course, as are USC and probably Ohio State in terms of best jobs. But Texas is number 1.
Strike while the iron is as hot as it will ever be....in 3 years we will truly know if Gus is more like Ah-ha, or a member of Dexys midnight runners.....I'm not convinced he's the real deal....he may have more in common with sir mix a lot!
^^^ C'mon Eileen!
Didn't expect that analogy.
Texas is a great situation no doubt, but UF ain't exactly chopped liver
With all that advantage, and taking all the teams in Texas which is our size plus half again, this state has more titles in the last thirty years than Texas. Even the small state of Alabama has more titles than the state of Texas.
They have dollars, this state has titles.
True, but money is a better insurance for titles than history. We have two Natties in the past eight years, and it didn't help us a bit the last four years...
college football coaches at successful big time programs are not overpaid. the amount of money a top quality football program brings into the university is well well well worth the investment a university can make for keeping a top tier coach. saban is underpaid if anything with the amount of money he brings into that school.
