Duke's Duval joins Bagley in declaring for draft

Duval declares for draft and won't be back. Seems like a risky move. Looks like a 2nd rounder, if that.

Lonnie Walker is leaving Miami. Malik Newman is leaving Kansas. Probably the right move for both of them.

Tacko Fall is coming back. I think someone would have drafted him at 7'6. He is still raw, but productive. I think you get him more experience and some more muscle and he could really improve his draft status. Also, gotta like his reasoning:

"It left a feeling of unfinished business," Fall said. "This is not the way I want to leave this school. I came here to do something big. I feel like before I leave here, I gotta leave my mark.
Fall returning to Central Florida for senior year.

Next year's draft is an odd situation. It currently looks to be a very weak draft giving players who return a good chance to improve their position possibly significantly. On the other hand, if the one-and-done setup is changed for next year and players are able to leave straight from high school, the draft could end up a pretty loaded one.

Gafford going back to Arkansas surprises me as much as any decision so far I think.

I wouldn't have expected Duval declaring but it doesn't seem surprising to those that claim to be familiar with him.

I really hope Carter (expected) and Trent (I think he might return) declare as well. I'm sure you of all people would love to see what Coach K can do having to rebuild that roster on the fly. Since K hates developing a bench, Bolden and his 8 min. a game will be the most experienced player returning. I'd love to see it. The end results (especially if Duke "underachieves" next year) might shed a new light on Cal as an X and O coach.

Gotta say BS on Fall's comments. Nobody goes to UCF to do "something big". Being 7' 6" one would think he would have gotten more than 7 rebounds and 2 block shots per game.

I am guessing he is referring to making the NCAA Tournament. They haven't been since 2005. His minutes were limited. He shot 75% from the field. Not saying he is a top prospect, but he does have potential. He hasn't been playing basketball that long.

That stupid hotel commercial forever ruined this song for me. It's nails on the chalkboard now when it comes on the radio.

I may be alone in this opinion but Duval looks like he could turn into the next Russell Westbrook. Even Westbrook wasn't Westbrook in college. He was a great player, don't get me wrong, but not like he is now. Duval seems to have the same build, quickness and athleticism. Remains to be seen if he has the same motor, desire and durability.

    Much smaller.

    Not as athletic.

If he scores half of what Russ scores he'll be a success.

NBA has moved away from the Sean Bradley types of big men in general. Unless you can run the court, hit free throws, and shoot farther from the basket, not as much opportunity, especially for a weak rebounding Big in the college game. Europe perhaps? Development league perhaps? NBA for this kid - no way at current time.

Nova's Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson declare for draft and will not return. Bridges is a lottery pick. I think Brunson can do well, but I don't see him as a future All-Star.

Auburn's Austin Wiley declared with no agent. I expect he will return.

Trent and Duval really couldn't return. That team is going to be stacked again next year with the incoming class. These kids need to think a bit more when it comes to playing for Coach K and Calipari with the way they're currently doing business. You have to be one and done, or they move you to the bench for the next crop of guys.

Personally, I'd rather go to a program where I'm the guy and can take time to develop if I need it.

I predict a very nice first contract...and not much after that. He has "great white hope" written all over him. He can't play his game in the pros. If he can be a stout defender then he can make a living.

But I did like him in the tourney.
