A friend of mine wants me to go with him to the BCS Championship. He is an FSU grad and I of course want FSU to get drilled. If he provides the ticket, I will not have the audacity to outwardly pull against Aubirn. I have been in press boxes before and have the discipline to remain mute during the game. I just don't think I can pull off celebrating after the game and there is no way I'm doing the "chop", should I go or would it be under false pretenses. He knows I went to Florida obviosly but I don't know his expectations.

Hell no. Hell no. Hell no. That would be pure misery if they won. Do you really want to subject yourself to that? Haven't you, as a gator fan, already been through enough? Lol I'd politely decline and make up an excuse. Like you have some paint to watch dry. HELL NO!

"Honesty is the best policy." - Benjamin Franklin

Ask him if it would bother him if you cheered for Auburn.

Do that if you want to keep him as a friend.

EDIT: I should add, I have a friend who graduated from Clemson. He's not an idiot. He is an english teacher who inspires many young people. We keep it civil.

My sis is an FSU grad and we live in Las Vegas so I might go with her. I wont be rooting for either team but I have been to two NC games and want her to get to experience it too. If she has other friends to go with then I will skip it but if not I will just try to forget who is playing and just enjoy some football.

gatorr4life, You know I believe you are right. Even if FSU loses I won't be able to wildly celebrate and if they win that would just be a continuation of the worst year of football since 1979.

I went to a University of Miami championship game with my pal who is a UM grad. Also at the Rose Bowl. Wore a Miami cap and cheered for them (as I did as a lad). Think I had a Gator shirt on. Odd feeling, but it was OK. We sat amid a bunch of Cornhuskers, and it felt good to party while they sat in misery. Largely because I was at the NC game in Arizona which Nebraska pounded Spurrier/UF. (Not that their fans weren't nice about it.)

As for your predicament, I'd say go if you don't live in SoCal, it is a wonderful place to visit and the Rose Bowl is a beautiful venue. If you chop, however, report back here for summary execution.

And you might end up in a fight with a Nole. Hard to listen to that stupid chop all game long. It will eat at your ears, and make you want to slapaNole. (TM) lol!

If I was offered a free ticket I would go. Have fun. You can root for Auburn and still make it fun

There is rooting for a team and then just being obnoxious. If your friend can't handle it, then so be it.

If he has half a brain, I am sure he knows you don't like FSU.

I invite friends that are fans of the opposing team to watch games with me in person or at home all the time. It makes it fun.

Dude. What are you doing with a friend who is a nole? You're already so messed up it doesn't matter what you do at this point. lol

Go. Wear Gator shirt. If FSU beats Auburn then they've earned their due but standing among noles is a stench you will never be able to remove. Doing the chop would forfeit any semblance of humanity left in your being. The mere thought makes my blood freeze.

I guess I'll never understand you. Do I prefer Auburn win? Yes a thousandfold. Would I outwardly root for Auburn? Hell no. Seems like an unpardonable affront to my millions of Gator friends.

I'll see you there. My dad's a big nole so I'm surprising him with tickets for Christmas. Glad I won't be the only one wearing the real orange & blue.

Am I the only one that finds it odd someone would seek the counsel of an internet forum that can't even come to an agreement on which quarterback is best suited to start for our own team?

If you can deal with the possibility of being there live to witness a national championship for SWAC, then go. Save being rowdy/obnoxious/whatever to an opposing fan (if that's your thing) for when your team is actually a participant. I'd represent, but subtly, it's their game, their moment. Being "that guy" would just make you look like sour grapes. Wearing nothing at all would make you look like a baghead. I wouldn't be afraid to hide who you are rooting for, I think part of being a football fan is realizing that not everybody roots for the same team.

    Go GATORS!

Why would you not go?! Any chance to go see a championship game like this should be taken. I'm sure he figures that knowing you're a Gator fan, you probably won't be rooting for FSU. Just go and have a great time and be a good natured fan of whoever you want.

Go and enjoy the pre/after party. It might be more fun if you really don't care who wins.....

Plus FSU girls are fun from what I've heard!
