Even if fat people did eat more (which the studies do not support) ... so what ? What is "fat" and what's wrong with it ?

    (A) Saying this doesn't make it so.
    (B) Says the guy who constantly claims, "we're eating more [bad] food but are living longer"
    (C) See (A)

EDIT: I gotta step out. Will be happy to pick back up later.

Before I proceed, you clearly missed the irony of my "syllogism." Processed foods (and lots of carbs) may not be extending our lives, but since we're living longer and longer ... it would be damned hard to prove that they're killing us, don't you think ?

But now you're projecting. What if people around you weren't so busy reinforcing the thin bias ? And what if there were heavy people who felt great ?

The trick of Atkinson is that if you eat mostly meat and veggies and eliminate most carbs, you will consume fewer calories. It isn't what you are eating, it is still the reduction in calories.

It has nothing to do with projecting, social bias, or exceptions. I know what fat feels like. So...the direct answer to your direct question of what's wrong with fat is...it feels horrible.

Okay, sorry to hear that. Other "fat people" don't feel horrible. What felt horrible to them was the social pressure to be be thin. That led to chronic dieting which, of course, led to more weight-gain.

In my case, after starting treatment, my triglyceride levels fell after three months. Significantly. I stopped taking them and they ballooned up again. Now I take them and my levels are reduced.

Every time I go to the doctor, I ask fis there are any long term side effects. And is it still considered to be an effective treatment. He says no to the first and yes to the second. The first question is important, as some of the other treatments can cause liver damage.

So, yo go on with your bad self about studies debunking claims. But the overwhelming evidence shows that fish oil is an effective, safe treatment for high triglyceride levels

Well then, now all we have to do is prove that our cholesterol numbers are killing us.

Oprah Winfrey. Tom Arnold. John Goodman. Lead singer of the Blues Traveler. Homer Simpson. The Biggest Loser. Roseann Barr. The dude from The Hangover movies. 2 winners form American Idol (don't remember their names). Warren Sapp. John Kruk. The Fridge. The Icebox. Andre the Giant...

Just off the top of my head....

....lot's of beloved famous fat people over the last 20 or so years, who don't seem to have been ostracized or whatever, for being fat.

Yes, and we whisper behind their backs about their "lack of self-control." Now, Biggest Loser is another animal. There, we insult them to their faces. Certainly Jillian Michaels does.

I don't care what anyone says about being fat is un healthy. Being fat is very unhealthy, IMHO. I've 'personally' seen both sides of the spectrum in that regard. And I like being lean much more... feel much better too. This doesn't mean all other people are more healthy leaner, only me.

I don't doubt that you feel better. But health is not easily quantified. I'm a rail-thin fitness trainer and I have hypertension. My younger sister is rail-thin, runs marathons, watches her diet stringently ... and has to take two blood pressure meds.

    "Obesity" is an arbitrary construct.

No you don't. You only think you feel better, because society tells you so. Admit it, you actually felt much better and were in much better overall health when you were fat.

...damn, he beat me to it...but I knew it was coming...

It's hilarious that you're debating someone on how they feel. Seriously. You are disagreeing with someone about how they feel.
