I don't think it says much other than idiots and guns are a bad combination.

I mean you never know when you're going to need it. Some guy in front of you may start texting ...

It could have been worse, though. Both of them could have had guns and started firing ...

Two idiots. One with a gun. Stupid beyond belief.

Guess if you are gonna be inconsiderate, better start carrying.

Ah, there is a trite gun control message in every story, isn't there?

Of course, for all you know, there is a concealed carry in every show of every film all weekend long on a weekly basis.

Just follow the sage advice of Johnny Cash, and "don't take your guns to town."

Or, when a crazy person brings a gun into the theater and begins shooting everyone in sight.

I condemn what this guy did, but to somehow equate this to every person who carries is dumb.

    Now THAT was funny!

What isn't funny is that this is basically The Simpsons, The Family Guy, Futurama, etc, attempting to get the general public out front on "hey guys, time to change course" but instead it cruises over their heads. But then you knew that when Jerry Springer is considered entertainment.

    Not a good sign.

Many a retired cop carry psychological baggage from their policing days, though they don't necessarily go around shooting folks in movie theaters for continued texting...

That is the theatre we go to when we go to the movies as it is the closest one to Dade City where I live. I drove past there yesterday on my way back from Tampa and parking lot was full of cop cars and tv trucks. Quite a scene. Shooter was a Tampa cop who retired 20 years ago and his son is a cop now.

I'm hoping he was talking about the movie referenced in the video. Personally I thought that movie was pretty terrible and unfunny, but whatever, some people liked it.

Yes, I was talking about the over-the-top movie preview.

Back to the news article; a let me get this straight, a 43 year old man couldn't figure out, after it was brought to his attention, that texting during a movie in public was rude? Hello? You are NOT a post-HSer.

And to the gun, I have no problem with people carrying but when you do you CAN'T have it be an extension of your personality. Deadly force is NOT a way to win an argument.

The movie hadnt really started. I don't think people should freak out over texting until the previews are over. I typically have my phone silenced, but I'm still fidling around with it during the roughly 20 minutes of trailers that preceed the movie. Indeed, usually the final the "turn off your phone" message is after the end of the previews.

My point was, a 43 year old person was told he was being rude. If no one had mentioned it then the sign could have reminded him to do something responsible. That is what got me about the story. It didn't seem like he cared whether his actions were a distraction. A 20 (or in today's climate 25) year old I could see copping an attitude but a 43 year old? Can't simply apologize and walk out of the theatre to finish up?
