Poole launched himself at the receiver. It was a good call. I'm not worried about the db's. I think there was much confusion due to all the new db's playing out of position. I think Boom straightens it all out this week.

Other than Brandon James we've never had the luxury of having a "returner". Except now and again an occasional Debose.

The best players play. Special teams are important enough and the returner's first job is to have the brains and balls to catch it every time.

I would make it Patton's job - even though it looks like Patton and Dunbar are our only playmakers at receiver - not counting Burton as a good possession receiver.

You play your best...yes,,, even on special teams.

    Its football people.

Muschamp is doing the right thing...he even plays starters on kick coverage.

Saban...YES ,he uses his starters to field punts and kicks.

It did remind me of Bubba Caldwell's injury on a return against Tennessee back in 2005.

Danielson merely brought up a good point. I agree with him. Patton is not nearly as important to this team as Purifoy. You're talking about a #2/#3 receiver in comparison to a potential first-round corner.

I was never really a fan of making Purifoy a big part of the offense. We really don't need him over there right now. Perhaps if we can't get anything going, but I don't think it's necessary to play him more than we have to. He got hurt today. How was Danielson wrong in what he was saying? And why can't others agree with him?

Most of Purifoy's returns should have been fair-caught. He consistently decided to run the ball out from 5 to 8 yards deep in the end zone and had trouble making it back to the 15-yard line. I don't know if Muschamp told him to do that to try to score points so the offense wouldn't have to, but it didn't make sense based on the results he was getting. On the play he got injured, he caught the ball 5 yards deep in the end zone and was tackled near the 14.

First of all, it isn't like Danielson said at some point in time prior to Purifoy's injury that he shouldn't be back there. But he always pulls that. Second guessing coaching decisions without having made the contrary argument prior to the decision is sort of his calling card. Patton is a starter and he was back there. He could have said something then, but he didn't.

I don't care if you agree with him or not, but I do find the after the fact arguments exasperating. No one would think anything of it had Purify not gotten hurt. That's the risk you take.

Don't let VH3 return punts or kick offs either.

VH3 isn't that much better than the other returnerss. It's not worth the risk.

VH3 is already better at CB than Purifoy. I say let louchiez return kicks.

Agreed...Purifoy has missed tackles and been beat this year..and last year.

VH3 looks better than Janoris Jenkins did as a freshman.
He is only going to get better.

    Yep on all that.

I'm fine with Purifoy returning kicks, great athlete, just needs to use better judgment on bringing them out of the endzone. I worry more about Patton back there given his size and his importance to the passing game.

    Moral of the story:
If you want to make the big hit we used to see on ESPN highlights, do it on the last play of the 1st half in a blowout.
