You can look at this from a different perspective and see Mo., Tn. and Ark. saying to themselves "dang, even if we win, then we have to play the Gators again."

And the other side has UK (most talent), Ole Miss (dangerous shooters) and LSU (athletic). The draw is a little unlucky but not that bad, conference tourneys aren't supposed to be cakewalks anyways.

You understand the 1 PM start is a reward, right? It gives UF more rest before its next game.

I do not care about the SECT. It seems to me to be a meaningless exercise since we already did the hard part.
We should be exempt until the championship game at least.

They've won their last three games by an average of 31 points per game. I sure wish Georgia had lost yesterday and UT had nabbed the 3 seed.

Yep, that was my first impression as well. UK will breeze into the final game while UF has some work to do.

Let's sticky this to the top and then we can either start a new one after play begins or update this one.

Missouri, LSU and Arky all cost themselves dearly last weekend. Now they must win the tournament

On the other hand, if Georgia makes it to the final, I think they warrant consideration as the 4th SEC team

    I think Tennessee is in.

IMO, Arkansas & possible Missouri gets in if they make it to the SEC semis. Arkansas would have to beat Tennessee & Missouri needs to beat Florida (making our game tougher).

Arkansas has wins against SMU, Minnesota, Clemson and UK twice. Add in Tennessee making them 23-11 & I think they sneak in, should they win 2 SEC tournament games.

Missouri has wins against UCLA, NC St., Arkansas twice and Tennessee. A win against Florida might put them over the top; however, its possible they may need 3 wins.

LSU's only big non conference win is St. Joseph. Other than Kentucky, they beat Arkansas and Missouri. They most likely need to win the SEC tournament.

I know the seeding is predetermined but why does it feel like UK has had the better draw the past 3 years??? Last year seemed set up?

As someone else pointed out, this kind of setup makes no sense. We are the top seed but our first opponent will hae played one game, Texas AM/missouri , whereas Tennessee on our side gets 2 byes as they wait for the auburn SC game, then they play arkansas , then tennessee finally plays. doesn't make sense.

That first round 12 vs 13 seed game should be pulled up to our bracket.

Tennessee likely plays the 5 seed coming off an easier game. We play the 8 or 9 seed coming off a likely competitive game. It works in our favor.

It seems like the teams that have given the Gators a tough time (including UConn, Auburn, Bama, and Mizzou) have good guard play. Mizzou could give us a real tough time and as others have noted, a win over Florida might stamp their ticket. Let's hope that Pat and Casey are healthy and that the Mizzou guys (yes, I'm discounting A&M) get gassed in the second half.

This board is the first place I've ever seen people complain about the standard bracketing that is used in like every college basketball tournament ever. You're claiming unfairness based on the unlikeliest scenarios. The likelier scenarios favor UF. As wygator mentioned, the #4 seed is less likely to benefit from an upset since #12 and #13 play each other a day before playing #5. Also UF gets the same double-bye as UT does.

Is the NCAA tournament seeding unfair because UF played a #15 seed in the Sweet 16 last year, while the #1 seeds all had to play much higher seeded teams in that round? The answer is no because you don't judge it on unlikely fringe cases like that.

    OK...a couple of things.
First, UK will lose in the semis...and none of these teams beat us on thier floor...why are we fearful on a neutral one?

We shouldn't be fearful - we can lose and we still should be a #1 seed.

The more tough games we play, the better we'll get. We should play the SEC tournament with the goal of getting our bench more experience. I think we still win but if not, we'll just be more prepared for the big dance.
