bad example, that 2003 LSU game was a glimpse of what was to come....

wouldn't say last year gave any entire game where you thought the qb situation was under control.

As a Sophomore Chris Leak threw for 3200 yards 29 TD's and 12 picks. 60% completion. Not a good comparison.
I'll take a Junior year from Driskel like that.

Driskel was a first year starter as a Sophomore, you can't compare those stats. Its more relevant to compare Leaks FR season, which are pretty similar.

Thought it be funny to bring up an old conversation in hopes that our next QB will be the most improved. What will we be saying in 4 years after this hire?

They may just want us to play JD for other reasons. ;) But, if JM thinks he's the best option and can help JD, then I'll trust the coach.

NOOOOOOOOOOO........Love Jeff Driskel the kid.......but Jeff Driskel the QB is not very good under pressure. He may be the best practice player ever as has been discussed but his days as a starting QB need to be behind him at the UofF.

You mean under light? It doesn't need pressure for JD to be bad, just seeing an opposing SEC uniform is enough

Given Jeff's injuries and problems in the pocket, the best thing Mac can do is make him practice without a green jersey. He looked like a Heisman candidate in August. He has to learn how to practice like against teammates that will actually knock him down.

I like Harris but I think we were starting to see some of his shortcomings (no pun intended) in the last two games. He's smart and gutsy but there are limitations to his game.

I think Grier is the next guy. I love Harris but don't know if he will ever be the guy to lead us where we need to be. I love Jeff as a human being like others have said, just not the guy leading us to titles.

Hopefully, he turns him into a TE.

I don't think we can afford to have only two real quarterbacks, one of them a redshirt freshman. TE might be Driskel's best bet for a future in the NFL but UF needs him back at QB for his last year whether he gets on the field or not. Just like the latter part of this year. He has to be ready.

I feel really bad for JD I think QBs have phases of development and when you miss the window for certain skills its gone and hard or impossible to back track. We went through so many OCs and never really had someone focused on developing our QBs and this is the result.

I am beyond excited to see what JM does with our young QBs.

That Driskel kool-aid sure tasted good until we ran out. Wonder where we can buy some more.

The F$U game left me with questions. The batted down passes were a problem, but that final series was a mess. I wonder if his (lack of) height made it difficult to see his intermediate receivers.

Good point! I used to think that QB height was a vastly overrated metric, but Treon does seem to get a lot of balls batted at the LOS. His size seems to sometimes be a detriment in the pocket, which is unfortuante cause he seems to handle being in the pocket with a lot of poise.

Wow, Driskel went from disappointment and finished to top 2 or 3 in the country in one day. I expect the QB position to improve production wise, in that they will get the ball out of his hand faster and put him in better situations but I don't expect him to be much more accurate than he is now. The coach will play to his strengths and minimize the weaknesses for overall team improvement but if the Gators have a good year, Driskel will be looked at as a system quarterback.

Yes, but it does work to his advantage when he runs - very hard for his defensive spy to know which side he coming out on.
