this weekend with my lovely bride. We laughed through the whole thing. It was hilarious, so be sure to see it if you get the chance.

It is, like many things Parker & Stone, highly irreverent and can offend those with certain sensibilities. But the morale of great satire uses humor to reach its point and, as with Southpark, those guys are masters of that. This was no different.

As I said, be sure to see it if you can.

Two young Mormon guys walk our neighborhood here in Redondo Beach, California.
Have to admire their determined attempts to change the unchangeable.

What's the premise ? I'm going to guess it has something to do with something unusual and cutting-edge, something we almost never hear about, like homosexuality.

Actually, no, it really has very little involving homosexuality (other than that one of the characters is a closeted homosexual, which is pretty hilarious when the Mormon missionaries sing a song "Turn it Off" about how you can simply avoid emotional issues if you just "turn it off, like a lightswitch"). The premise is that two Mormon missionaries, one who is an "ideal" Mormon and another who is anything but, are sent on their Mormon mission to war-torn Uganda to convert and baptize Ugandans who are under the oppressive power of an African war lord. The missionaries who are there have never gotten an African to convert, as the Ugandans are more concerned with the oppressive regimn of the war lord who is summarily executing the men and circumsicing their women. And, while one becomes quite hopeless, the other discovers that his talents that were not appreciated by the Mormon Church in his training actually proves quite helpful.

I don't want to say more because, honestly, you really should see it yourself.

Daring, radical of them to smuggle in the homosexuality. Seriously, it's funnier (and cheaper) just to read the newspaper. Americans believe some whacky things.

I've seen it twice, laughed all of the way through it both times.

Saw it a couple of months ago. I certainly wasn't offended but was disappointed. Liked the music, but didn't find it very funny. The reaction was essentially the same from the rest of our party.
