Patric Young led the 13th ranked Florida Gators on a 76-34 thrashing of the toothless Savannah State Tigers (2-11, 0-7 away). Patric scored 15 points with 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks and 1 turnover to earn 80 Value Credits. While people were anticipating the debut of Chris Walker, it was DeVon Walker who showed up big with 8 points and 7 rebounds for 56 vlaue credits. Scottie Wibekin nosed out a bunch of others with 54 value credits by scoring 10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 asssist, and 2 steals. Interestingly enough, the Gator's season MVG, Casey Prather, had one of his worst games of the season in this one-sided blow-out, scoring 10 points but also notching 5 turnovers. Team Stats: Again it was the Gator defense that was the story of this game, holding the Tigers to 34 points (11 in the first half) on 24% shooting from the field and forcing 20 turnovers. The Gators also had a 12 board rebounding advantage (42-30). The Gator offense shot well from the field (49%) but poorly from the line (59%) and had a negative Assist/Turnover ratio (11-13). Overall, the 42 point drubbing of the Tigers proved to be little more than a scrimmage for the Gators over the long holiday season.
