Am I the only one who thinks what we have learned about Satanism (no belief in any higher authority freeing you up to be, well, you) is exactly the goal of the real Satan. Mission accomplished!

The fastest growing religion in the US maintains that a man named Joseph Smith was shown by an angel where to find some golden plates buried in a hillside in upstate New York.

The right guy could start a "the sky is green" religion tomorrow and enlist thousands of followers within weeks.

Some people will seemingly believe anything.

What's the difference? Gullibility is gullibility. There are absolutely people who believe satanism has nothing to do with Satan. Why are you so incredulous that the world is teeming with idiots?

I see what you're saying.. Change "the sky is green" to "Hope and Change", and we have real proof of those people who would "seemingly believe anything", right?

    Well done sir...

There is a lot of truth to that. I fell for it. Once anyway.

Well not exactly. I was giving an example of extreme gullibility within modern religion. Something that I find to be no less or more far fetched than believing that satanism has nothing to do with Satan.

There actually is a Satanic Bible....I have seen it in a bookstore back in the 80's. I believe it was started by Anton Lavey and he was supposedly a highly degreed freemason. The church of Satan was established in San Francisco in 1969 and had a few celeb members too. I heard the Eagles wrote the song Hotel California about it too.

Well that wasn't my intention. By all means, let's get back to Satan.

btw...were the religions reversed, all we be hearing about from our conservative friends would be cries of intolerance and censorship. Worth remembering the next time some right-wing speaker is blocked from speaking on a campus somewhere.
