CAMBRIDGE, Mass. —The student organizers of a planned satanic mass at Harvard University say their intent is purely educational, but the Roman Catholic church says participants are putting themselves "dangerously close to destructive works of evil."
The mass scheduled for Monday is organized by the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club and is part of a series of events exploring different cultures and religious traditions.

Christian moms everywhere are freaking out. These are the same people that say Christians are under attack, Christmas is under attack, etc.

    Comments from Facebook:
"Satanic Mass at Harvard today. Where's the outrage??????
We live in a strange, sick world!"
    "What?? That is just sick.."
"Yep, prayers needed for this outrage. They are opening the doors to demons. This is how people get posessed, for real. Pray for all involved. : ("
"Someone sent this to me a week ago, just ridiculous! This is where people having rights is pushed to the extreme. Prayers prayers & more prayers for these students and the world."
    "What's happened to our America?"

    ----------

Love the hypocrisy. Personally, I know nothing about Satanism - but it sounds pretty neato.

A moment of disgrace for a once dignified institution, to be sure.

College kids do knuckleheaded stuff. Not sure that this rises to a disgrace.

No. it rises to the level of frivolousness......barely. What we consider important or education today is truly amazing. Wake me up when they start beheading chickens.

I don't know why anybody would call it a disgrace. It's no more disgraceful than holding a religious event of any kind (at a private school mind you) for the purposes of education. What's the big deal?

I find it fascinating. I love a good villain.

At the very least, Satan worshippers acknowledge the existence of the Christian god. They're just on the 'wrong' side. Seems like a satanic congregation would be a good place to seek out some converts to Christianity. Low hanging fruit. The hard part is already done.

    This is the funniest part:

Harvard embraced the Devil a long time ago.

Frivolousness, I could go with. The whole Satan worship thing is the equivalent of getting body piercings to spite one's parents. If the kids at Harvard want to waste time studying the piercings, it's not a big deal to me.

If you step back and don't like at religion or spirituality as a subject of Truth, but just as a subject of... I don't know, fandom, like sports or TV or comics... does it get more dumb than Satanism? Here you have worship of a being, the source material for which establishes only two facts with certainty -- that he is really evil, and that he will get his ass really kicked. So that is the resume for something to worship; anything contrary to that was made up by people who already decided to worship an a) evil b) loser.

Was he banned or something? I'm relatively new here but I remember him/her and posted in a few of his/her threads.

The mods are free to check my IP address to ensure I'm not this "soho" character back from the dead.

Well, as far as the source material goes, consider the source.
