    That's my code term for 'broken metabolism.' It's like Sasquatch in that everyone says they've seen one but, as of yet, there's really no evidence for it.

    It can be. Most are probably just clueless. A recent NYC Bellevue study examined people who complained that they were eating next to nothing and still not losing weight.

    Participants' self-estimated daily caloric intake: 1,082 calories.

    Participants' actual daily caloric intake: 2,081
