I am happy with Trump and what he has done as prez- do I think he is a saint-no

the hildabeast has thumbed her nose at our laws and felt she is entitled and that what ever she did in breaking our laws was acceptable because in her view it was for the greater good- there has NEVER been any kind of independent investigation to Benghazi, or her funding the dossier or a multitude of other things that went on when she was both SoS and a prez candidate

Well, The Gipper lowered taxes and guess what? Revenues increase because the economy grew. Here's a link from Forbes on the relationship between taxes and revenue.

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/mikepa...uts-increase-government-revenue/#384e90784bf2

Using the data from 1913 through the end of 2011, the correlation between the maximum marginal income tax bracket and total Federal receipts is a negative 0.50. In simple terms, when taxes are cut, Federal revenue has a very strong tendency to rise! And when taxes are raised, government revenue has a strong tendency to fall.

I guess if you ignore all the other times that Reagan raised taxes because revenue was plummeting after his 1981 tax cut, and ignore the fact that Clinton raised taxes and the economy grew more than it did under Reagan ... then you can pretend that cutting taxes always grows the economy.

We studied economic systems in college while Reagan was pres--thank gawd--and "tricle down was the dumbest one of them all. In a 2 man race communism wins. Trickle down sounds good on TV, but it does not address greed.

Yes, if only we could investigate Benghazi. Then we'd have her by God!

Unless the stock market was at 0 (zero) when Obama took over the presidency, it definitely had somewhere to go besides up.

For someone so concerned about laws, you must be a big supporter of the Mueller investigation. Except you aren't, so your concern about laws seems to be situational, or perhaps political.

Well we don't know if Mueller hasn't found squat, the investigation is ongoing and he'd be a fool to cough up findings until he wraps it up. He may be sitting on a huge pile of "gotchas", or he may have nothing. He might just be cashing checks. We won't know until it's over.

It's definitely possible. I just know that on a complex appraisal assignment if the realtor and mortgage broker are screaming "where's that damm appraisal", that isn't just red flags it's air raid sirens. The term "please rush" most times they're trying to get it past the goalie.

Indeed. If you got nothing, you got nothing, but at least there was due diligence.

And if Mueller doesn't have anything on Trump he will be exonerated. And many years ago the subject of another investigation also thought that one year was enough. Seven and a half months later he was singing a different tune.
Nixon: "One Year of Watergate Is Enough."

By the way it not standard procedure to release progress reports of ongoing criminal investigations. Said it before, unless you have access to Mueller's investigation you as well as virtually everyone else who posts to this board, including myself, has absolutely no idea whether or not they have anything.

As I show in the below graphs, the Forbes article leaves out three important considerations that call into question this alleged relationship. Simply put, the correlation is spurious.

    1. Revenue increases thought to be associated w/cuts to the max tax rate also associated with economic recovery after recessions

    2. Revenue increases occurred or continued occurring after decreasing or increasing max tax rate (see #3)

    3. Auto-correlation of trends

    example maxmartaxcut-recess-revenues.JPG
    Purple Line: Fed Revenues
Red Bars: Max Marginal Tax Rate Cuts
Green Bars: Max Marginal Tax Rate Increases
    Yellow Shaded Areas: Recessions

*Please forgive if things are slightly off. Didn't want to take too much time.

"Thought to be". I like it. This coming from a guy who "thinks" a single cell amoeba "perhaps, possibly, maybe" evolved into every living creature on earth.

Back on subject. You're trying to muddy up the water. Reagan cut taxes. Fact. The economy grew. Fact. Revenues from a lower taxed rate increased. Fact.

Look at the slow growth until 1981 and it took off. And again in 2005.
