Well, it looks like Applewhite is staying with Brown and Helton will be our next OC.
FWIW Law....I think this speculation was probable. Almost seems some of the leaks to media caused everyone to stay put
These "inside sources" that produce these rumors are clueless. The ADs keep everything secret, so these "inside sources" make up BS because they usually have no idea what's going on like the rest of us and don't want to admit it.
It isn't BS.
Texas may have wanted Saban and talked to his agent who is Fishers agent.
Fishers agent may have thrown Jimbo's name back at them.
Then Jimbo's agent could suggest to FSU he talked to Texas about Fisher.
In the middle of it, Applewhite may have talked to Will about the OC opening.
When Texas could not entice Saban it was all over except the new contracts.
Hell, this could all change again.
This just got new blood.
With Tim Brando now saying the Fisher to Texas rumor is real, I am more convinced Applewhite is heading our way.
What does one have to do with the other?
Someone got a heads up on Applewhite coming on staff if Brown was fired.
That was followed with a BTW, Fisher is UT's top choice.
Is Jameis going with him??
The biggest advantage to Applewhite being OC is he's the guy who Muschamp knows and trusts, which makes him more likely to trust Major to really run the offense (as opposed to someone he brought iN he didn't know til the interview).
Very true but during his coaching tenure he has proven he can score on and off the field.
Which is a really big deal in coaching.
The question is does Fisher retain him?
Well, get used to it.
How do we know Muschamp trusts him? they only worked together 2 years, neither of which had Applewhite running the Texas offense.
Unfortunately, if Muschamp brought in one of his coaching "pals", then we're looking at yet another "yes man" that will run the same, lethargic, unimaginative, predictable, self-defeating offense we've seen the past two seasons. If Applewhite is hired, NOTHING on offense will change next year... n-o-t-h-i-n-g.
sure it will...the HC.
The HC is where it all starts and ends.
Applewhite has been around the block.
He will not be one to try to upstage the HC.
Probably not. Jimbo calls his own plays.
But Applewhite is a UT grad and a hero in Austin.
It may be in Jimbo's best interest to keep him on staff.
I'm not sure Applewhite would stay if he doesn't get to call the plays. I know Jimbo's talked about relinquishing his playcalling eventually at FSU...but if you're UT, you probably don't want him to experiment with that in his first year.
