Man I was worried we'd have a guy named "Kim" running our offense
Against Memphis-level competition.
With Memphis talent.
Love all the "it's a great hire!" ... "It's a terrible hire!" back and forth.
Surely there's only one definitive way to find out?!
Kiffen called the plays and ran the Offense. Helton coached the QBs. Once Kiffen was fired and Helton was promoted to OC, their offense was much much better. He's put a few guys in the league too. I think it would be a great hire. His Cali and TX connections are a nice plus as well with recruiting. Not expecting a change in recruiting philosophy as FL, GA & the SE will always be priority, but having additional inroads to talent rich states only compliments Mushamp/Lewis' TX connections & Durkin/White's CA connections.
He couldn't even average 30 ppg against that Memphis level competition. We don't want another Brent Pease.
It didn't really get much better though. It went from 25 ppg to 30 ppg. Still underachieving mediocrity.
Im not saying he is the right guy or not, but top 25 offense is top 25 offense. Guess what, thats better than what we have right now.
Kim Jong Un might be better.
He knows how to execute.
Speaking generally am I the only one who finds irony in this OC coaching search? A lot of posters here want the best OC we can get, but at the same time want our HC fired now or eventually? That has to play a role in some capacity (rightly or wrongly that's not the question in debate) in creating a culture of uncertainty for the future.
In other words, why would a so-called top notch OC (again each person has their own opinion here) want to move his family when they know the HC is on a short leash (partially due to fan demands for excellence, which isn't bad)? That's a risky move to uproot your family on the uncertainty if your boss will even make it through the next season when your stuck looking for another gig if he is fired?
In essence it's ironic that some fans want a great OC to step into a cloud of uncertainty, in part due to impatience from fans along with a poor season and poor offensive performance, which we all share to a degree of frustration with.
Maybe Scott mckinie got some reliable contacts when he was in the clink.... Crooks always have the most trustworthy sources.
To get the "best O.C." will mean bring a guy in have him add to his resume for a year maybe two now we're looking for yet another O.C. unless they come with the attitude that another year like this one and they may be the hciw(sarcasm..but not much)
That's my point.
A piece of advice.
Do not quote "Southern Sports Tonight" on anything. Their host admitted to me once that they just make stuff up to keep people listening. This topic came up after I met him once and called him out on the day, 3 or 4 years ago, where he broke the story that, per his "reliable inside sources", Les Miles had signed the contract to be Michigan's next coach. Wow! What an insider tip! Then imagine my surprise when I got home from work and it wasn't on ESPN. Another day came and went, still no Miles to Michigan. Days went by, weeks went by, then I realized this guy was simply lying on the air.
Turn your local radio off, take the $30 out of your wallet, and subscribe to Sirius. You'll wonder why you ever wasted your time listening to SST.
As much as I agree with your sentiment, Gray, I have a hard time calling anyone who makes $3 mil a year a loser. If anything, we're the losers for paying him for the ridiculous product on the field. I bet our groundskeeper could have led our team to 6-6 for 1% of the price.
And that show--along with the entire staff---just flat suck out loud. Biggest bunch of rank amateurs to ever be on the air. They may get lucky with guessing who comes in as OC or any asst, but as far as having real inside info---horsecrap. If memory serves me correctly, Scott McKinney was involved in some scam a few years ago and had to sit out awhile in 'timeout'. Not a credible source.
Your constant barrage of insults at coach "meltdown" is not going to make anything better. YOU KNOW recruits read these boards. Muschamp is not going anywhere, so you may as well stop with the insults. Maybe wait till he's gone to do that. For a grown man, you come off childish. (At times)
Lesson for today: spelling
Spell counterproductive- G R A Y G A T O R
Even worse is that YOU KNOW recruits watch our games
Was that supposed to be funny? I have a feeling a lot of crow will be served next season. I have faith. GO GATORS!
Yeah that might be why we've had all those decomittments huh? They're jumping ship like the titanic. I mean we've had what Ummm..... 0 since the season ended and added 2 espn 300 members and flipped another wr from fsu.
Maybe they don't get the games on tv with those bunny ears on top of the tv
