Saw this on another site. Not sure why he'd leave. He's a likely starter next season or at least a nickel, so he'll be on the field quite a bit. Wish he'd stick around.

Not a big loss. Opens another slot in our class for someone who can play. ;)

I wonder if this is what champ meant by saying there's probably going to be one more transfer last week.

is he one of those guys that already has his degree and can go anywhere without sitting a year and perhaps is looking for a grad school. Otherwise, it makes no sense

Big loss if true. He was pretty talented, could cover both X,Y, and the slot, and provided pretty good run support. That said, the biggest loss will be his leadership/ getting the defense in and out of the right coverages, etc. He would have been a contributor very similar to what we saw out of Jaylen Watkins in his SR year. The intangibles is what we will miss the most if true.

Even if I try my hardest, I just can't find a way to put a positive spin on multi-year starters transferring.

    Something is amiss.

reason is simple if true....he wants to go somewhere and show he can be the lockdown corner as he'll make a ton more money as a top CB then a safety. He'll be one of the fastest at the combine in the 40

makes sense....he won't start at corner for us.... VH3, Tabor, Poole etc

Neal is a straight baller. I expected him to get on the field this year. Maybe playing time has something to do with it, if Cody leaves, but as mikehev and others have noted, we will definitely miss Cody. Versatile, experienced players who can cover and tackle don't grow on trees.

Everytime Riggs was on the field he had a big X on his back.....that being said, he sees the writing on the wall. Others have passed him.

Higdon is always good about tweeting things that he knows with some degree of authoritative certainty, so I'd say this is definitely happening, and it's a HUGE loss. No sugar-coating losing experienced talent like Cody Riggs.

I agree. Saying his departure is a good thing because it makes room for someone else is ridiculous. Making room for an unproven player who may not pan out is not a positive thing.

I agree. All these transfers in the last three years are really getting old. There's only so many times one can say "it's a good thing, it frees up another scholarship" before it's just whistling past the grave yard. Seems to me our problem at the moment isn't too few scholarships, it's too few outstanding recruits to fill the ones already available.

Riggs is one of the few experienced players in the secondary. This would be a big loss.

One less veteran on the team....gonna have to hope superior talent trumps experience.

The only reason (non-disciplinary) I can see him transferring is that he has been passed by another player. It will hurt depth and obviously experience but I think we will be fine.
