Anyone know what this guy's reputation is in terms of his recruiting prowess? Big 12-15 months ahead!

Great question, Limey. I heard there was only one 4-star on dukes team..the rest being 3 & 4-stars. it seems they bought into what he was selling and produced a great product at what is considered a blue-blood basketball institution so I'm encouraged.

Well, the good news is that many on this board will make excuses no matter what happens, so you will at least get to hear a positive spin. When you say, "we just hired the coordinator of an offense that could not break the top-60 nationally in what was supposed to be his best year", they say, "Oh, but he had no talent". When you say, "why didn't he recruit talent?", they respond with, "well, no one can recruit at Duke."

Two different worlds IMO. The question is will the recruits believe he can use their talents and produce a winner. On the positive side, his players at Duke were very well coached, the O-line was good and they played hard. Not something Duke FB is known for.

I know where you're coming from and you're not being pessimistic. If it gets ugly and you're not a sunshine pumper you become an inadequate fan. But this guy at least has to be better than Pease, assuming the offensive issues aren't a direct reflection of our HC's inadequacies.

fsu's team is an anomaly this year. Even with Winston they might not be so great next year, who knows. But I don't think Duke's offense only scored 7 because they lack talent so it remains to be seen exactly what this guy can do. But overall we are going to improve, it's just a matter of how much.

I disagree with nothing you write. But Pease was such an obvious failure waiting to happen--a guy who was fired for his terrible offenses at Baylor--that almost anyone with a pulse would be a clear step up. Just getting better is not enough coming off of a 4-8 season. We shouldn't keep coaches who average 7 or 8 wins a season--getting better is not enough.

And our offensive problems were certainly at least partly a reflection of WM's inadequacies as a HC. Great HC's lead teams that are competent on both sides of the ball, even if they are known as a 'guru' on one side or the other. This idea that Muschamp would be great if he could just find the right OC is laughable. Why not just do away with the HC altogether and just focus on hiring two coordinators?
