Roper hire will be what saves WM.

I've been saying that with Muschamp's D we just need an average offense to win a lot of games. An above average offense would probably put us in the running for titles.

For all the flack that Muschamp catches (and deservedly so), Muschamp is half the puzzle to being an elite team. He just needs to realize that he needs to hire a competent OC and give that OC complete control. Sometimes I think Muschamp believes the #1 purpose of offense is to allow his defense a chance to rest. I'm pretty sure that will change next season.

It wouldn't hurt if Foley would open up the wallet and start paying the good coordinates at the very high end of the scale, so that we can keep the goods ones longer, and attract the best available when they leave.

Where do I look up talent rankings in the Almost Competive Conference? As for Helton, I was never a supporter of him with a PAC 12 conference record of 6-3.

This recruiting class will be almost as significant as the coaching hires as to how long WM will be a Gator. If Roper and the Gators don't sign some game changing offensive skill guys, we will be trying to compete in a home run derby with 4-star bunters.

If it was, he would have fired Muschamp in early November. I'm probably one of the few in the anti-Muschamp camp that have a lot of confidence and faith in Jeremy. I have no doubt that he will handle this situation the best way he knows how.

He, above all, knows how vitally important our football program is. He is also aware that if you're not careful, you can become UT. I believe he will prevent that from happening.

Look up the recruiting rankings yourself. The point is he did more with less. Get it now?

After 3 years, with two different OCs but the same head coach, and the same result on the field with the Gators highest National offense ranking under Muschamp being 103rd (of 118), and this, following past Zook years with either passable or outstanding offenses. That, combined with the lowest TD percentage in the Red Zone in the SEC 3 years running, I have attributed the problems to Muschamp's influence on the OC. If Roper manages to turn it around, then, if reasonably healthy, this will be a very difficult team to beat, because Muschamp's defense and recruiting are really superior.

All speculation aside, the Proof is in the Pudding, and no where else.

Have to disagree with the topic, offense was far from the only problem with this team, even if it improves other things will also need to get better.

    No doubt about that.

Defense has to improve against the run. In order for us to take advantage of those young QB's matched up against our secondary, we have to be able to take the run away from them.

Frankly, I don't care where we go, but we have to find a PK. Some here compare Hardin's struggles with Caleb, there's no comparison between them at all.

I still believe keeping wm had more to do with his buyout, having to buy out a new hbc, and that there really wasn't any top notch candidates available worth the sacrifice of letting wm go. JF I'm sure is hoping his talk with wm noting a change in O has to be made will turn things around. I hope that it does.

We are much better off if Muschamp figures it out very soon and succeeds at UF.

Any coaching change is risky, just ask the Vols.

I am curious as to why there is a consensus that CWM handcuffed the offnse. Is there proof to this, sure he wanted a certian style, but I dont believe that CWM ever called plays during games nr did he have control of the offese. I may b wrlong but if I am please show me the proof.

Agreed, but we're going to need to serious home-run hitters at DT and LB next season and depth behind them who can carry our defense. Easley is going to be hard to replace, although Bostwick and Brantley could be very, very good DT's. Ivie? I have no idea.

Orr and Cummings will probably be our starters, and though both are good, our DT's will be key to next year's ability to get opposing offenses off the field, and personally, I feel we need to bring in at least three DT's in this year class and at least one of them need to be able to to contribute immediately. We've already seen what just one injury to a key player (Easley), can do to a defense, and we need to prepare for that eventuality and make sure a loss like that again is minimized by solid depth.

I firmly believe Muschamp's heavy-handed defensive philosophy has really tunnel-visioned him when it comes to offense. His philosophy is that it's offense that is is the supporting cast behind the defense. This offense needs one more vital, important thing, and that is a solid OL with a well-developed, well-coached QB.

That, and Muschamp has got to quit handcuffing the OC. My worry is since we apparently are not going to install an all-new offensive system, that Muschamp will still meddle in it.

That, and hopefully Roper can really work with what we have left at QB, and once Greir gets here, I'd make sure both he and Driskel get serious attention and equal reps.

Roper came here because he'll probably be named interim HC by October and like Galen Hall will have a chance to win the head coaching job at season's end.

I hope to God not. Another untested HBC? We've already seen what happened with Zook and Muschamp.
