I always thought he was a great guy. Channing Crowder is always singing his praises as being a players coach, and loved him, but he also says he was not a very good head coach. I think most everyone liked the guy, just not as a head coach for UF.

I had lunch with his neighbors at the lake and he and Denise were over . He is still a BIG GATOR fan and had only positive things to say about UF and thinks Muschamp is a good coach if given time will be great at UF fwiw....

This is absolutely true. Because Ron Zook was not a successful HBC at Florida, fans tend to feel he would not be successful at other ventures. I wish I was as unsuccessful as Ron Zook. The guy has to have millions of $ in his bank account after coaching 3 years at Florida and 7 years at Illinois, not to mention his other college coaching jobs and NFL jobs. Ron loved the Gators and his football players when he was a Gator and I wish him nothing but the best at whatever does. I think this holds true for most all Gator fans.

He might as well have run the gauntlet instead of taking over in 2002.
And there isn't one Gator fan with half a brain who doesn't think he should have a ring for the 2006 championship.

I agree. As others have also expressed, just because someone doesn't succeed at a very high level job doesn't mean he or she is totally incompetent. From all appearances (I don't know him personally), he has many skills and is a genuinely nice person. He gave three years coaching my alma mater. I thank him for his effort and wish him the best.

I used to work with a guy who played football at Miami University the year after Zook graduated. He played the same position and had the same number. This guy told me he had kept his Redskin jersey with their number on it, and when Zook was embattled at Florida he sent the jersey to Zook to cheer him up. Zook was paid a lot of money and he was hired for results, but it still made me sad that my school's fans could make anyone's life so miserable.

Zook was not right for the job and was in over his head (classic Peter Principle), but the way he was treated and is still remembered by many is not right either. The fact that he still has any good feelings towards UF is a testimony to his character.

Zook is way more successful than most of the people who love to take potshots at him will ever dream of being.

We should have hired him as our special teams coach. His recruiting is very good. I don't understand why we didn't hire him.

Sometimes you're better behind the scene than in the spotlight.
Good for Zoom to have another go at it.

Business development oofficer is someone who uses their cntacts or influence to bring in new clients.

    Sort of like a recruiter.
