Right now, USCe resembles way more of a football university than UF

Watching the SC / Clemson game, that stadium was rockin'. Who ever we get needs to be someone that can get the fans standing, yelling, cheering, and, yes, spending money on the UF program and Gainesville. I'd take Spurrier for 5 more years if we could get him...let him retire a gator and align a successor. I probably miss him more now than ever.

That's because they have a real coach.

Relax. One bad year doesn't constitute the destruction of a program. let them have their fun. It won't last, either. Connor "running on 3d and 15 for a first down" Shaw won't be there next year. Had Shaw broken HIS leg early in the year, and Clowney been knocked out for the season, as Easley had been, USCe would have lost several more games as well.

Was on the USCe campus yesterday. Columbia is an unheralded gem of a small city.

I don't think so. Spurrier yanked shaw a couple times and his back up still threw TDs. The man can coach, doesn't matter who his players are. No way he would of lost as many games as we did this year.

No thanks. Despite the gatorcountry obsession with all things Spurrier, I wouldn't want him back here. He did great things in his prime, but his best days are well behind him. In 9 years at USCe he hasn't won a single SEC, and only 1 SEC east. He's averaged about 55% winning percentage in SEC play for the last 9 years.

Yeah thats the same thing we heard when back when we hired Meyer. " Spurrier is too old and doesn't have much left."
I can tell you if Shaw isn't hurt against Tenn. they don't lose that game and they are playing for an SEC championship.
Also those who think coaching at USC is the same as coaching at UF and should get the same results are crazy.
UF should always be competiting for playing in the SEC championship.

This is Gatorcountry bro, coaches aren't shown any mercy for losing players to injury. Even if you lose 13 starters.

Yea...I'm sure 9 years without an SEC title would go over real well here.

    South Carolina is amazing.

This "winning" thing that Spurrier has brought with him is kinda new to them. Of course they are fired up.

If South Carolina could recruit as well as UF it wouldn't have been any 9 years without an SEC championship
Shoot with the crap Muschamp has put on the field the last three years at uf it is amazing any offensive player would even consider UF

Dylan Thompson was all over the map against Mizzou and would have lost BADLY had Shaw not been put back into the game. Against UCF, he completed 46% of his passes with one INT. Indeed, he threw four TDs all year - two against Coastal Carolina. Skylar has three TD passes this year. Shaw wasn't yanked once this year.

Spurrier is a good coach, and is doing well at USCe, but he barely beat us at HOME. He wouldn't have gone 4-8 at Florida this year, however. He would have beaten Georgia Southern to go 5-7. Remember, he had several 6-6/7-5 seasons at USCe as well, and he never had the talent dearth and injury pileup there that Muschamp had at Florida. The closest was 2005.

    Looking at Florida's losses:

    * Muschamp didn't lose the Miami or Vandy games. Those were turnover nightmares.
    * LSU, Mizzou, USCe and especially FSU were better teams than Florida, regardless who coached us.
    * That leaves the Georgia schools. presuming that SOS wins both (possible, but not likely, especially being that his team got pounded by a healthier Georgia), I would be generous and say we'd be 6-6 this year under SOS - at BEST.

No, that only applies to hated Florida coaches. Beloved former coaches would always get the benefit of the doubt.

I do see the merit in basing decisions on who is a program for a year or two, because then, when I'm a USCe honk, I can say: look we have just as many trophies in the case as UF the last two years.....zero

So Muschamp isn't responsible for Miami or vandy because of turnovers?

So how does he get credit for last season when we won so closely all season even with the luck of a 30+ turnover margin.

Take away all those turnovers last year and we lose several more game minimum.
    Including Louisiana lafeyette

Yea...and he's STILL better, by leaps and bounds, than 2/3 of the coaches who followed him.
