I don't blame him for wanting to move on and get a chance at a position he might have a shot at playing on Sundays.

But it doesn't hurt us if he was not willing to play Safety for us.We'll be fine at corner and nickel. And we are very talented at Safety. Need Gorman on the field a lot though, to keep at least one experienced set of eyes out there.

Just the opposite. If we could use him at corner, we'd do that. But we have better options for the defense we play. Which means the program is strong.

    I wish him well, though.

Murph leaving actually does bother me a bit. I don't think he'd have done that if he thought there would be a fair, open QB competition. And we need an experienced QB, whether he started or backed up JD.

I love our QB class, but one or both of them will need to step up this year most likely, and that's not usually the best case for true frosh QBs.

Some of the stories from players recruited by the previous regime are interesting. Hearing firsthand stories from players who left and some of the situations of current roster players made me open my eyes to it being nothing but a business.

I will never question why a player choses to transfer because there is usually an underlying issue that doesn't go public.

    I wish Riggs the best.

We will be fine on defense. There is a lot of talent and with last year's injuries some of the young guys got their feet wet already.

One positive is that it increases the likelihood that Herndon can stay on scholarship for another year--which I'm fine with.

Sorry to see him go and I wish him well. The NFL does not expect ready made players to just show up. They have scouts for that, as well as the combine and pro days. If someone has the skill to be a CB in the NFL then they will be found. Playing safety or nickel at UF is NOT a deal-breaker for the next level. If a basketball player can be drafted and developed into an NFL player then anything is possible.

But like I said, good luck and best wishes.

Everyone thinking this is about the NFL needs to read the article.
Since many won't click- here is a cut and paste of a part of it...

I’ve played every position (in the secondary),” he said. “If I wanted to leave to prepare myself to play corner in the NFL, I’d have done so (earlier).”

Riggs said that he plans to attend graduate business school and pursue either an MBA or other business degree. He’s currently finishing his degree in Family Youth and Community Sciences, studying for the GMATs and doing an internship at a Boys & Girls Club in Gainesville.

Riggs sees going elsewhere for graduate school as a chance to expand his network. Riggs is the son of former NFL All-Pro running back Gerald Riggs. Cody Riggs said he grew up around a non-profit organization his parents started — Florida Youth Track and Field.

Muschamp is the best coach I’ve ever had,” Riggs said. “His defense is always going to be good, regardless of who is back there. They have a lot of talent back there, it gives me a little peace knowing that they’re going to be OK.”

I understand the depth viewpoint but he hadn't beaten JD so far during his career. I don't see what the coaches could've said to change his mindset. I truly believe he knows Jeff was better IMO and nothing was changing his mind.

I still don't get it. How is a Master's from UF not worth more? Is he transferring to Virginia or Duke?

That was my question. Also I'm pretty sure part of the loophole is the school he's transferring to has to have a degree UF doesn't, well if he's a business major UF has an MBA program so I don't see how that works.

I highly doubt he thought JD was better. In fact, I can almost guarantee Murph thought he was the better QB. If I was him, I sure would have felt that way. Many on GC recognized that last season as did Lou Holtz, and SOS. And Murph's family, I'm sure.

Yeah I remember the comments here when Murphy came in but I didn't agree that he was overall better. He had a better pocket awareness but IMO that's it.

And that's fine if fans disagree. Doesn't really matter what we think.

But as a player, what was Murph thinking? What was his family thinking?

If the team scores mores, and Lou Holtz and Spurrier are wondering where the coaches have been hiding you, you're going to take notice. Those guys know a little something.

Yeah I hear ya......too much outside noise. Unfortunately neither SOS or Holtz were there for practices to make a true and factual comment. He looked good against lesser teams and then the season started and ugh; although I'm not blaming him. I'll agree though that he probably heard enough chatter to believe he was better.
