Mine is a troll post and the OP isn't?
The point of my post is that the direction of this thread is ridiculous.
First, let me deal with what you posted and then I'll deal with the foolishness of the "associations" to Obama.
If you actually go back and read what I posted you'll see that I didn't say Bush knew OBL. Did you have such a hard-on to call me a troll that you disregarded what I actually posted?
Don't worry you're not alone it happens a lot around here with many of the Too Hot "conservatives"...
I said the bushes knew the bin-ladens...ya know, the FAMLIES.
And if one was to use the idiotic logic of guilty by association here in the same manner as some here want to do with Obama then the bushes can be linked in the same manner.
See how illogical that is?
Oh BTW, as illogical as that train of thought is there's far more linking the Bush family to dealings with the bin-Laden's than you'll ever find between Obama & the Wright's.
Connections And Then Some David Rubenstein Has Made Millions Pairing the Powerful With the Rich
Greg Schneider Washington Post Staff Writer
March 16, 2003; Page F1
Rubenstein, after all, is co-founder of the Carlyle Group, an investment house famous as one of the most well-connected companies anywhere. Former president George H.W. Bush is a Carlyle adviser. Former British prime minister John Major heads its European arm. Former secretary of state James Baker is senior counselor, former White House budget chief Richard Darman is a partner, former SEC chairman Arthur Levitt is senior adviser -- the list goes on.
Those associations have brought Carlyle enormous success. Founded in 1987 with $5 million, the Washington-based merchant bank controls nearly $14 billion in investments, making it the largest private equity manager in the world. It buys and sells whole companies the way some firms trade shares of stock.
But the connections also have cost Carlyle, in ways that are hard to measure. It has developed a reputation as the CIA of the business world -- omnipresent, powerful, a little sinister. Media outlets from the Village Voice to BusinessWeek have depicted Carlyle as manipulating the levers of government from shadowy back rooms. "The Iron Triangle," a book about the company due out next month, promises to take readers into "a world that few of us can even imagine, full of clandestine meetings [and] quid pro quo deals."
Last year, then-congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga.) even suggested that Carlyle's and Bush's ties to the Middle East made them somehow complicitous in the Sept. 11 terror attacks. While her comments were widely dismissed as irresponsible, the publicity highlighted Carlyle's increasingly notorious reputation. Internet sites with headlines such as "The Axis of Corporate Evil" purport to link Carlyle to everything from Enron to al Qaeda.
"We've actually replaced the Trilateral Commission" as the darling of conspiracy theorists, says Rubenstein -- who, truth be told, happens to be a member of the Trilateral Commission.
It didn't help that as the World Trade Center burned on Sept. 11, 2001, the news interrupted a Carlyle business conference at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel here attended by a brother of Osama bin Laden. Former president Bush, a fellow investor, had been with him at the conference the previous day.
The Bush bin-laden relationship goes back 25 years
(That's longer than Obama's with Wright  )
To your other point, that OBL is estranged from the bin-laden family and that somehow matters....
You know the relationship of Rev Wright & his daughter?
Do you even know if she has a relationship with her father?
But that didn't stop you from somehow linking Obama to her arrest, did it?
If you believe in this nefarious connection story....
Has anyone asked why would Obama's boy Holder & his prosecutors bust a friend's kid for $8,000????
who bought the refinery in Philly and got a rare special exemption from fdep air quality rules and also concessions from unions?
hint it starts with C. Carlyle is bought into both sides
I'm good with your point.
Mine is that this foolish association guilt model is stupid.
I used the Bush family & Carlyle as an example of how the association model doesn't really work and much more detail into the relationships has to be looked at before loose relationships determine something deeper, more sinister.
So, I don't disagree with your Carlyle example...it just doesn't really speak to why I used that example.
If you can "connect the dots" between Rev Wright's daughter and Obama over $8,000 that she pocked personally...
How could you not draw the same conclusion over the Bush - bin-laden connection which is at a minimum tens of millions of $$$$?
One way, partisan BS. Not to be believed.
The "logic" behind the OP's argument is dumb.
If it was Obama's brother, the fat white liberal media would call him "just another guy who lived in Obama's neighborhood."
I don't think having the association with 0 hurt her chances when she filed for the grants. Lots of gubmnt money doled out based on associations and to discount a long term relationship with the POTUS is foolish
one of the bin ladens was at the same conference as Bush. just because you and 2000 other people are at the same conference that does not equate with you sat in the same pew with that conference attendee for 15 - 20 years or shared several meals and other social interactions over years and years. apples and oranges
I guess you didn't watch the video....
The bin-laden family invested in GWB's 1st oil company venture over 20 years ago.
Long before the 9/11 conference.
You think investors like the bin-laden family invests multi-millions and hasn't met with Baker & Bush with the US involvement in Saudi Arabia.
BTW - Senior Bush was caught in a lie when its proven that he met a family member more than once as he claimed.
You know she has a long-term relationship with Obama?
You don't even know the nature of the relationship she has with her father.
But don't let stop your witch hunt....
