Watching the replay of their game against Austin Peay, and grant it AP is a nobody but I can tell they have new coaching there..With Butch Jones now there, I think they get an improved offense and become relevant again making our rivalry once again fun to watch

We will get better but it will be at least 2016 before we are a threat to the upper echelon again. Hopefully by then Spurrier will have hung it up. Of the teams at the top of the SEC, South Carolina is most vulnerable to being passed given he is the only coach to ever win there. Fwiw, there is a high school team near Knoxville (Maryville) that would be better competition than AP.

It's AP! Last year a Tar Heel friend of mine was crowing about a 60+ -0 win over Elon College. I reminded him it was Elon and the next week UNC lost to Wake Forest. You cannot gauge much.

Give me UT's offensive line in front of me and I can run for at least 100 against Austin Peay.

Yeah I stated its only AP, but they do have a very good offensive line and could become relevant again in the future with this new coach...he had good results in Cincy

I've heard this before, I think. Oh, yes, it was in 2009 after UT throttled Western Kentucky under the stellar leadership of some brilliant up-and-coming head coach named Kiffin. All the pundits raved how sharp Crompton looked and how Kiffin's claims of singing "Rocky Top" all night after beating the Gators in two weeks were not so ridiculous after all.

The next Saturday UT lost to a bad UCLA team in Knoxville.

The Saturday after that Kiffin did not sing "Rocky Top" all night long ... It was not a blast ... He was not ready.

It will be fun to watch because we will run on them allllll day and pick at least two passes.
After watching them push AP around - it's easy to see that AP was not an SEC team .
Celebrate now UT - because the season is coming.

I remember Zook hanging 70+ on FAMU and all the fans were fat and happy. Then the bubble was popped and Florida gets beaten handily by scUM and then Tennessee.

You are partially mistaken. The Gators did lose badly to Miami at home that year. But they turned around and beat down Tennessee during a downpour in Knoxville the next week. The scales did not fall off our eyes about Zook until we lost at Ole Miss soon after.

I follow your point but Kiffin did beat Georgia 45-19 and South Caroina 31-13 and was a blocked fg away from beating Alabama. Better than what Dooley did. Your basic point is on target though. You will see Tenn for what they are at Oregon and maybe even next week when Jessica Dorrell's former lover comes to town.

as bad as they are this year there is a decent chance they will be worse next year with that Oline leaving. I think they are losing their whole Oline. Their Dline are all veterans too. And from what I understand the back ups are terrible

Last year UT was sure it was "back" and was gonna thrash us in a home game. How'd that work out?

I didnt exactly mean their resurgence was this year..it was more of a future thought..they are recruiting well right now and could become relevent in the years to come..I would love for that to happen..its gets old that its only talked about UF UGA and USCe being forces in the East..competition never hurt nobody

The Tennessee fans will turn on him if he does not win by next year. There is a lot of rebuilding to do at Tennessee and it will take time. I guess congrats on the win against Austin Peay.

Yeah, pretty much but as the recruiting guru here on GC I am sure you have noticed that Jones is loading up on JUCO's. Devonte Lambert in particular should start and be pretty good right away.
