A new paper from AIP Conference Proceedings from the American Institute of Physics that reports that cleaner air causes more warming.

    Abstract:

Clean-air policies in developing countries have resulted in reduced levels of anthropogenic atmospheric aerosol pollution. Reductions in aerosol pollution is thought to result in a reduction in haze and cloud layers, leading to an increase in the amount of solar radiation reaching the surface, and ultimately, an increase in surface temperatures. There have been many studies illustrating coherent relationships between surface solar radiation and temperature however, a direct link between aerosol emissions, concentrations, and surface radiation has not been demonstrated to date. Here, we illustrate a coherence between the trends of reducing anthropogenic aerosol emissions and concentrations, at the interface between the North-East Atlantic and western-Europe, leading to a staggering increase in surface solar radiation of the order of ∼20% over the last decade.

Interesting, but not too surprising. Indeed, one of our options for temperature remediation is to release large quantities of SO2 aerosols into the atmosphere.

    Susan Solomon agrees. http://www.sciencemag.org/content/333/6044/866.abstract

She has also written about the variability of stratospheric water vapor and it's influence on surface temperatures, even suggesting it was a significant contributor to warming of the 90s (a period when stratospheric water vapor was relatively high).

Shouldn't you at least pretend to be non-partisan on the science, rick? :)

I never said I agreed with the report, so I have no stated opinion of this research.

OMG, can I just save everybody a great deal of time, money, vitriol. It is called weather patterns and we've always had them and always will.

We've allowed an idiot like AlGore to become a wealthy man by spreading his brand of "climate gobbledy gook" and there are other idiots too stupid to realize they are being suckered by contributing to his cause (which is essentially AlGore's bank account).

He is the climate version of a "Rent a Riot Reverend".

Only 6 nations still sell leaded fuel, and they're all in the N hemi.

S American cars are old, no doubt.
