That's right because Wilbur spent his freshman year as the #3 TE, only getting off the bench to take the heads off of kick and punt returners. Sometime before spring they figured out that he might be a better OLB than TE. Will never forget his debut at home against USC. It looked like USC was running the wishbone, except the trailing back wore an orange and blue jersey with #88 on it. I don't know if the USC tailback ever made it to the LOS.

But hey, who knows what kind of TE he would have made?

I was looking at our visitors on 247, and they now list 2 Wisconsin verbals as visiting this weekend. Both are from the same HS in Georgia: WR Krenwick Sanders, and DT Jeremy Patterson. I can't imagine us taking another DT in this class.

It will be interesting to see how some of these players the staff is trying to get on board actually do.

We missed on Lauderdale, so that may explain the WR. We may also not be in as strong a position for some of the other players on our board as some assume.

How do you know we "missed" on Lauderdale?

I don't know if you are asking if I "know" (i) that we wanted to take Lauderdale, or (ii) that he won't be signing with us. If you mean the former, I don't know. If you mean the latter, I assume he is not coming (and so does everyone else) because he appears to be headed to ASU after shutting down his recruiting following his visit there.

I tend to think that we did want Lauderdale, but may have offered him late. It is entirely possible that we still have not given him an unconditional 'ship because he is a JuCo who cannot enter school early--that is, that he was still a plan B who could only be part of the class if others did not work out. But even in this context, "miss" just means we need a replacement plan B.

IDK what our status is with Lauderdale, but he looks like a player who can play successfully in the SEC right now. And I'm not sure who else we could say that about. I wouldn't say it about the guy we lost.

TOS reporting Worton now visiting UF this weekend. Very interesting.

Unfortunately it looks like Oregon gets the last visit on 1/31. Hopefully if he likes us, that visit gets cancelled. I get the feeling that this kid is on the outside looking in for FSU's class as they try to make room for higher rated players. They have Ermon Lane and Myles Autry coming in for visits later this month. That's just my impression, I haven't seen that written anywhere.

On the other site it shows us as the 1/31 visit, but that could just be their mistake. At any rate, I'd like for him to cancel that trip to Oregon all together...

TBH, while he looks like a good player, I'm not sure he adds anything we don't already have on the team. He has decent size and catches the ball well. Probably average speed and acceleration for a WR... which means he'll probably have a tough time getting separation against many of our opponents.

Interesting that Oregon is looking at him, though. They usually go speed at WR.

    IDK.

Never underestimate the value of a Chris Doering type player. Not that he'll be anything like Chris, but you never know. He could be a shorter version... Lol..

I agree. Worton seems like a decent player, but I really hope we can add McKenzie to the class. He would be an important piece on offense, especially with us moving to more of a spread offense.

That's not true. 46% of recruiting experts still say Lauderdale will go to Gainesville (according to 247). So you can think that Lauderdale may not be a Gator (which I would think has a pretty good chance of happening), but there's no reason to speak for everyone else.

Yeah, I'm kind of reminded we have Ralph Andrades and Chris Thompson on roster. They were below-100th type. Wish we knew how they are developing.

It is getting to be a lot like the past couple of years where anyone can get away with saying anything...as long as it is the most optimistic possible projection. So please take your cup of hot milk and a blanket and feel secure that no one is saying that UF will miss on anyone. While it is not accurate to say that 46% of recruiting experts still say Lauderdale will go to Gainesville (I assume you mean 46% who have made Lauderdale projections on 247, but in any event this assumes that those who made their projections long ago necessarily would still predict the same if pressed), my point was that those who are predicting Lauderdale to ASU are doing so for the same reason as I am. For all I know, there may be a recruiting expert who still thinks he comes to Florida, though I am not aware of anyone.
