Good rumors are okay, bad rumors are not okay... Lol..
As I understand it Sharpe and Sarvary are OTs, the others project to G. But that's fine, 3 OTs including Prince would be a haul.
Is this a joke? I was asking on another thread about Joker as a recruiter.I hope we finish the class and can point to a few solid players that Joker was key in landing.
Yes it was. It would suck to lose Joker, especially this close to NSD. He's a great coach, and I believe he is also the Recruiting Coordinator.
I hope you mean we fill the spots we needed to fill and replace the 5 star prospects we have already lost. I don't recall losing this many high caliber commitments at this stage. Then again, I barely remember us fucking up a season this badly.
It happens every year to just about every school. Like it or not, it is the current climate for recruiting. I also recognize that losing players like Cook and Lane is huge but I would take any of these other guys and be happy. Cook actually may end up being addition by subtraction and I could see him being a locker room cancer if he doesn't grow up a bit. I think the biggest get this year was landing Roper and Summers.
I trump you both...Remember "Lidsville?" Saturday mornings were the best! - back in the day.
Looks like a full class of quality recruits to me. Each door that opens has a true Gator walk through it.
With the commits we have along with a list of quality visiting, we will have a strong class that takes care of our true needs.
I'd love to see us close with Prince and Adoree. I love that we get the final visit for Prince with Tabor here on campus.
A lot of people think we close with Jackson and Prince.
I think we end up with one of them, and maybe both. I'd be really surprised if we got neither.
Davon Godchaux just tweeted that Auburn is his only visit this month, so I guess we can cross him off the list.
Andrew Mike (OT) with an offer - 4* lineman from Arizona with a UF offer & on 247 the six most recent predictions have him coming to UF. Visit date set for 1/24.
That would be an awesome finish. Jackson would make up for losing Lane. Hope he plays offense.
Would be a big commit imo.
He probably has to wait for Prince to make his decision. I can see us taking seven OL, but not eight even with Prince as a +1. Wish Mike had been interested in UF earlier on. He's a much better prospect than most of the OL we have on board already.
I'm not 100% sure it's either Mike or Prince. I think there's a world where both (or neither) commit.
Unless you, as I do, can remember Charlie Pell's 1979 0-10 squad, the Gators have not come near to this bad a season since that time. And that was Pell's first year, and he recruited the entire All Florida OLine that year, which paved the way for the future Great Wall of Florida. Too bad he was also guilty of what the NCAA defined as "EVIL" causing a heavy Probation, and allowing FSU to get the top kids the Gators used to always get for about 3 years, which caused them to be very good, rather than merely good, and set the stage for their later powerhouses.
So, a year like this can have many, many detrimental consequences. In this case, however, although the offense was, once again, absolutely non-creative, you can attribute most of the problems to the incredible slew of injuries that pretty much demolished both the Gators offense and defense by the latter part of the year.
Yep, but I think Mike is a true OT. Current commits will play some OG.
I do remember that. I was in school then. I hope we improve as much, if not more. FWIW, it was five more years before the Great Wall emerged and those incredible '84 and '85 teams emerged. We were competitive from 80 t0 83, but not dominant. The recruiting class that followed the 79 debacle was impressive, but there were a lot of busts. I don't think we got most of those linemen right away. Crawford Kerr was a JUCO recruit from 83 or 83 and Jeff Zimmerman didn't get to UF until about 82. Anderson and Williams signed in the spring of 82, Wilbur Marshall I think came in 81. It didn't happen over night.
The good news about the current state of affair is that we have a lot more talent already on campus than we did in 79. We just had horrible luck. I'm just hoping these players can put this behind them. Last year's class was phenomenal. We just need to fill in a few gaps. I think we've done that already. The only thing left to do is add the finishing touches that give us a position-by-position edge on our rivals.
Wilber, Lorenzo Hampton and crew were class of 80
