The persistence of this thread is a life lesson in the dynamics of web forums and how foolish they can make you look for being impatient, impulsive and, well, foolish.
The difference between a worried rookie recruitnik and a seasoned recruitnik is this thread.
The vets know to panic on the inside.
Probably many on here think the paranoid thoughts, we just don't post them.
Hey it always sucks to see FSU at #1 in anything, that makes all gators vomit in their mouthes a little, but its SO EARLY...
The fact of the matter is is that it is so early that several of the UF commits that now bolster our class won't be signing a UF LOI come Feb.
That's recruiting, if you can't handle the wild ride, then don't get on the roller coaster...
I disagree, but respectfully. Before the Kelleher, Lammons, Lane, Wilson quad- compared to some important rivals(Tenn, GA, Bama, TAM, fsu, even Kentucky)- we did not look like we are recruiting all that well. The average fan cannot follow recruiting so closely and even if they did it's really hard to see through the fog. Still hoping we get the DL we need, but pretty happy with what I see at the other positions.
We barely have several recruits.
Then there's an argument that 'the average fan' shouldn't be making extensive judgements about the recruiting class if they can't follow it properly, right?
If one assumes that we were not recruiting well this year, then we have not recruited well for the past 5 to 6 years, because if someone had done just a small amount of research, they would have understood that we were right on pace with all the previous years and the end of August is the best time to judge a class, not June or July...just a case of "Premature Exasperation"..... (check out my earlier post on page 1 of this thread with actual research, not reaction)
The only date that really matters is in February, but the end of August has always looked good for the Gators roster......
I think some people took what happened last year, where we had some insanely large number of commitments after FNL, as the new standard under Muschamp, instead of what was, perhaps, just a pleasant one-year deal.
Well at least trhe thread generated some conversation! Been following recruiting for fifty years...how about you Limey?
Honestly, no, not on SG. If this were a paid board where the gurus were telling us big things were about to happen but someone incessantly starts worry-wort threads, then definitely, rag on him. But I think it was murky. And again, when you look at where some of our chief rivals were with their classes it was slightly unnerving.
Nothing was ever murky look at my first post in the thread. When has UF ever had a really bad recruiting class coming off a 10 win season? We could have a full class at anytime of the year it just would not be with the prospects the staff wants. We could have had a Kentucky class or Tennessee class at anytime.
Murky? Like what's going to happen in the stock market? Hilarious, it's recruiting
257 years. I'm Ben Kenobi's older uncle. I remember when Joe Paterno coached his first game back on Hoth... preeeeety chilly.
Paul is gone. He's already been taken off several commitment listings.
There's a good chance Lammons leaves if we get Jackson or Tabor.
Paul true, Lammons ur taking a shot in the dark. Got a link that supports that statement??
Lammons will stay other options +1
I believe if we want Lammons to stay he stays
