We still have one of the best defenses in the country.

It all comes down to Murphy, Muschamp, and Pease.

If we have an average offense we have a good shot at winning the east. If the offense stays the same we will lose 4-5. If the offense regresses then a losing season is likely.

It can go a lot of different ways

We are the Gators and it is year 3 and we still have one of the best defenses in the country without Easely. SEC title is the goal. We aren't Vanderbilt.

I am thinking 7-5, 8-4 at best. If we come out and whip Kentucky I could see 9-3 but I just don't see how we beat UGA, LSU or South Carolina, those games were gonna be very hard to win with a completely healthy team. Who knows about FSU.

When Driskel went down I thought we went from being able to split the big 4 games 2-2 to being able to beat on of the four...

With Easley now done, I will stick with the 1-3 record v the big 4, but the odds are alitle bit higher,..

I alos think our odds of losing to one of the games we take for granted, such as v Missouri or Vandy, have also gone up.

Think we'll end up 8-4, but 7-5 would not surprise me...

Even saying the phrase 7-5 is tough to swallow, but the schedule is tough and the team is not what we thought at the beginning of the year.

Even with the massive hits with injuries this team has taken, it's still one of the ten most talented teams in college football. Every game is winnable. It's just hard to tell how good we really are. I also agree that don't know for sure how good Murphy really is. Or how good the offensive line actually is. Or how talented the receivers are.

Anyway, winning the SEC is always the goal at Florida. Because of an incredible defense, Florida will likely be in every game. But the LSU, South Carolina, Georgia and FSU games will all probably be close games. And it's just not realistic to expect a team with no offensive firepower to pull out every one of those games. You also wonder how Florida will respond against a team like Missouri after what will likely be an emotional game against LSU.

I think this team finishes 8-4. I look for us to split the four big games (FSU, Carolina, LSU and UGA) left on our schedule, and I think this team is going to have a hard time with Missouri.

I am becoming more optimistic about our chances, not because we are far better than I thought, but because LSU, Georgia and USCe are not as good as I expected them to be. We may be able to skate through the SEC schedule with 6-2 record, which may be good enough to get to Atlanta.

3 more losses. Probably win a mediocre bowl game.

Glad you mentioned this...I was just thinking last night about UGA and USCe and our games with them. Assuming a victory over Vandy - all we have to do is prevail over these two teams and we are in Atlanta - regardless of how we fare against FSU.

I mention FSU because their QB (Winston) is a force multiplier and scares me!

But I also believe Tyler is a force multiplier - the coaching staff just has to allow him more free reign as we move ahead into the season.

UGA is going to be our toughest opponent this year. Regardless of your opinion of the defense their offense more than makes up for it. They're amazing.

    Atlanta....here we (I hope) go!

if they win 2 of 4 against heavyweights lsu, uga, usc and fsu--good season. If they only win 1 and go 8-4, mediocre season. If they win 0, bad season.

Right now, I'm kind of thinking differently about the matter. LSU, Georgia and South Carolina are three flawed teams-especially on the defensive side of the ball. Not one of them has an elite secondary.

Of course, our offensive line isn't really all that great. A lot of what happens in all of those big games will come down to whether or not they can get to Murphy with a four-man rush. I'm not sure Georgia or LSU can do that.

It's clear that Florida and Alabama seem to be the only teams right now in the SEC who are capable of playing great defense, regardless of what Manziel did to the 'Tide. And teams that play great D are in every game.

I'm inclined to agree with you about LSU and South Carolina and UGA being more vulnerable than I had thought after seeing this last weekend's games. The Offense looked better with Murph at the helm. I'm starting to think maybe........

It's hard to evaluate goals at the beginning of the season for a team that will no longer exist at the end of the season.

I think you do our team a disservice. I saw some guys scrapping, like Fowler, Kelvin Taylor and Mack Brown, Solomon, even Mornhinweg even though he has some limitations (man did I scream when his pass missed Taylor in the flat on that last series, but it was not for trying). And, did you even notice how close Hargreaves came to punching the ball out of the GS RB's hands on that last long run?

On their 3 or 4 big plays that killed us, we too often had a player or two (often seldom used back-ups) trying to make the wrong play rather than not trying hard. Nat Moore did a good job of pointing that out during the tv telecast.
