You'll never hear me argue the guy can't build or coach defenses. But at least some of us had major issues with his lack of HC experience when hired. Zook II.
And then the other issue, but we'll leave that for early November.

No, not when we wait for the other team to get up by a couple of scores before we actually figure out we need to do something else. What is wrong with being aggressive right from the start on offense. It seems like passing is pornography to Will. We don't do that. Well, yes we threw 33 passes in desperation mode of which the whole nation saw us flounder around. When passing becomes part of our game plan and we work on red zone scoring again with passing mixed in, maybe we will get there. Right now our enemies are laughing about our offense. Telling recruits why in heavens name would you want to block for Florida's running attack.

This reminds me of basketball coaches that lead with slow down games, no running and gunning, no dunking, do you think players want all the fun out of the games, NO.
Well Will has taken the fun out of Florida Football. This game is a loss we can't take back and we have to listen to our hated rival fans for the rest of our lives. The only thing worse than this is losing to Georgia for a third straight time. I can't wait for the boards comments as this season unfolds. Maybe the reason Weis left was someone was tinkering with the offense, who knows.

Everybody says will is a good recruiter. But a lot of people on here say we don't have the talent to run Will's offense. Florida in its history pulls in good players year to year without even a coach having to recruit them. Steve S. hated recruiting, but he signed Reggie McGrew and Gerard Warren, two great DT's in the same year. They came to play because Florida Football was exciting and fun. I hope we don't lose that at UF do to reverting back to a scheme which I feel will keep of out of winning the SEC for many years to come. We are not going to get the quality of players Alabama gets. That should be obvious to our fans. Will we get a good share yes, but to run all day you better have the best at all positions and a lot of depth.

Changes in our offense is needed before we can score 17 pts in a game, outside of the Toledos.

Maybe we can find an OC on the cusp of being a head coach and have dual head coaches like ancient Sparta's kings.

How can any team playing for Muschamp not be pumped on the first game of the season, regardless of the opponent? Muschamp may be utterly incompetent at "x's and o's", as the Zooker referred to that part of football that he didn't understand, but he does understand motivation. And I would argue that the Miami game IS how the team responds to failure--that is, an embarassing outing against Toledo in the season opener.

Right now, I can't guarantee this team will score 17 on Vanderbilt. And I think it's very likely that a couple of teams besides LSU will hold us to less than 17. I just hope we can avoid being shutout against LSU.

I'm hopeful that a lot of the problem in the Miami game is related to Muschamp's stupidity in using a RB 18 times in his first game back from a serious illness, and his stupidity in preferring RB's who fumble in games (but not in practice) to freshmen RB's who fumble in practice, but aren't allowed to play in a game. If you have 40 minutes TOP and can't run for more than 122 yards, there is something seriously wrong with your running game. BYU ran for 550 against Texas. We should be good for at least 250 against Miami with 40 minutes on the clock.

To win a national championship with a running game is not easy. Texas could not do it with earl campbell. Georgia could not do it after Herschel Walkers freshman year and they had a miracle win over florida that year to keep them in contention. That year they had other options that his skills were a complement to. His next two years he was pretty much the entire offense. OJ and Jim Brown are the level of elite back required to take teams all the way, and they are from a very different era. Basically even backs like Herschel and Earl Campbell need some help from the offense (maybe thats why Earl Campbell never won a Super Bowl) and our backs are nowhere near their caliber. So I think our approach may win most games but we will not win the championships that we should be winning if we had a moderately competent offense, given the caliber of defense that we have.

Once you get so many years in, lack of talent is a coaching problem. We've had no problem coaching up our current crop of defensive players, recruiting top talent and developing them quickly enough to make an immediate impact on the field. We just haven't seem the same level of success on the offensive side of the ball.

Our head coach has been a lifetime Defensive Coordinator. Coincidence?

And Big Game Bob hasn't won one since. I am beginning to wonder if the circumstances facilitated his MNC chances more then than now. Never cared for the argument, however. I think Boom is more than qualified. Besides, winning a MNC is not the minimum standard for excellence in college football...

When you're a top name program like Florida it should be considered a realistic goal however.

Winning the SEC is a realistic goal.

Winning a MNC is an aspiration. Slightly beyond a goal.

Neither should be expectations. In my view, a reasonable goal would be to compete for the SECCG every year, except when we are brutalized by schedule, injuries or a dozen or more new starters. We have competed for the SECCG most years (maximum of two conference losses:

    Year-------------SEC Record-----------Best Record in SEC

    1980..........................4-2-0
    1981..........................3-3-0
    1982..........................3-3-0
    1983..........................6-2-0
    1984..........................5-0-1............................Yes
    1985..........................5-1-0............................Yes
    1986-9: Sanctions
    1990..........................6-1-0............................Yes
    1991..........................7-0-0............................Yes
    1992..........................6-2-0
    1993..........................7-1-0
    1994..........................7-1-0
    1995..........................8-0-0............................Yes
    1996..........................8-0-0............................Yes
    1997..........................6-2-0
    1998..........................7-1-0
    1999..........................7-1-0
    2000..........................7-1-0............................Yes
    2001..........................6-2-0
    2002..........................6-2-0
    2003..........................6-2-0
    2004..........................4-4-0
    2005..........................5-3-0
    2006..........................7-1-0............................Yes
    2007..........................5-3-0
    2008..........................7-1-0............................Yes
    2009..........................8-0-0............................Yes (tied)
    2010..........................4-4-0
    2011..........................3-5-0
    2012..........................7-1-0............................Yes (tied)
    2013..........................0-0-0

Since 1980, when we had a level playing field, Florida competed for the SEC a remarkable 22 times in 29 seasons. I think that is the EXPECTATION, and to win the SEC is a reasonable goal.

    Exactly.

GC: You gotta be tough! You wouldn't know because you never played the game. We are going to wear the other team down because we are tough and play physical smash mouth football. Beat 'em in the 4th quarter....when they are tired. We don't need an offense....an offense is for candy a$$es. If the team isn't playing well at the half...let's just punch through a whiteboard....because that looks tough!

I'm sorry.....I'm just very frustrated. :awkward:
