against any good defense? At this point I don't see it. Muschamp's current plan is a recipe for disaster. Grind it out and hope the defense pitches a shutout seems to be the plan. Get down 2 td's and the feeling is we will need a miracle to win. Very depressing time for offensive football at UF. Our reluctance to play an attacking offensive style is odd, many teams do a lot more with less. Coaching?

Our offense looked great between the 20's. We moved the ball up and down the field on the Canes. Turnovers and Red Zone ineffectiveness is what did us in.

Our offense will do enough to win if we can stop the turnovers

i think we can score more points, the talent is there. we did it against fsu last year and that is the only hope i have, that i have seen it happen but i don't think that your post is too far of a stretch. it is going to take some huge adjustments in the red zone, but beside the turnovers that was our best offensive game(numbers wise) in a long time.

Really, if you look at our opponents, how many teams have a defense that really scares you? UGA'S, USCe's, UT's and FSU's don't, I'm more concerned with their offenses. LSU is the only team we play that has shown to have a very good defense. I'm not saying we're going to light anybody up but we should be able to score enough to keep us in the game. The only defense we may have trouble scoring 17 would be LSU.

We are a grind it out team. That will win enough games to go to a bowl, but it will cost a game or two like last Sat. We eat clock, we press trying to score and we turn the ball over. We are not a good comeback team. We are not a good red zone team, field shortens, tighter spaces and JD has trouble making good reads. We are not a team that can score a lot of points. Heck, we faced 2 average defenses and were averaging what 19 points?
We are grinders that often come to a grinding halt.

UGA, USCe and FSU should all be significantly better of defense than Miami or Toledo though.

If we had just played "grind it out", we'd have won that game.

We lost the game throwing the ball.

I trust our defense in putting up more points than our offense...

I really think we should just punt on most 3rd downs instead of being a disaster 50% of the time.

I beg to differ Oaktown. I think our coaches lost that game trying to get to cute. Case one was when we went for a two point conversion. Failure there gave momentum back to miami right after we score and get some mo working for us.

Case two was going for it on a fourth down and then failed to pick up a simple yard. Failure gives miami momentum then a quick mistake by the safety turns into a miami td. Once was not enough so we embarrass ourselves twice on that.

Case three was team drives the field and gets inside the 10 yard line at the 8 and we pull the qb out that got us there and put in Trey Burton to run the wildcat and lose four yards and momentum. Next play desparate pass to try and get td=interception.

We were bigger and stronger than miami why are we not letting our qb and running backs stretch th field and make them run after us in these redzone and short yardage situations? Miami was exhausted and really were never forced to chase us around the field. We have the best, and fastest running qb in the country and refuse to use his talents. I think our coaches don't think fast enough on their feet.

Well said Music. Of course a real grind is running up the middle for 2 yards with no passes. Our OC put the O in some bad situations. A time out should have been used since we love not to keep them, when the qb sneak had zero chance. We run the wildcat doing the same thing and think um is that dumb.

Good points on there being some questionable coaching decisions.

On the 4th down, somebody on the field has to be smart enough to know they've got the sneak defended, and either call a TO or call into another play. That's on both coaches and QB IMO.

Trash the wildcat with Burton. Driskel should be the one running those plays. Or put in somebody who is very elusive and can still throw once in awhile (Bailey?).

But in the end it still came down to us not executing the game plan which has ball protection at the top of the list. If we protect the ball, we win that game.

Kick the FG on 4th down. Kick FGs on the other two red zone TO possessions. That's 9 more points and a big difference in momentum.

We also need to hit the edges more in the run game. Or as another poster noted in another thread... put in a RB who will bounce it outside.

We scored 24 vs. Toledo....and you're saying we should score more than 17 vs. all of our opponents except LSU? Wow! Step away from the crack pipe....

Time for the defense to quit slacking and score a few points to help out. Special teams also.

If we don't throw the ball I'm not sure we score more then the 6, the running game was anemic (2.8 ypc)

Did anybody think Miami's D would hold us to 15? Ultimately, you cannot judge 1 game to the next, especially in college football where each game and performance is different from the next. Hopefully our staff and players figure out the issues. Hopefully, this is the step backwards before we take 2 forward. Hopefully...

Wait a second, all anybody does around here is complain that we don't throw the ball enough. So Driskel goes 22-33 for 291 yards and now you're saying that we should have stuck with running the ball 45 times a game.

For the record, Driskel made some horrible mistakes to be sure but those mistakes made in the game were not solely on him. The receiver ran the wrong route on the 2 picks.

Point being that you guys need to make up your minds. Do you want to play close to the vest and grind it out every week knowing if we get behind it'll be almost impossible to catch up, or do you want to open things up and accept the risks that come with an inexperienced group of receivers and a QB that seems to have a limited skill set?

    Can't have it both ways.
