    It is a well know fact that judges presumed to be conservative or liberal often change their views when appointed to the bench. There are a number of Supreme Court Justices who changed their view. This shows that judges are not, unlike members of Congress and the Administration, political animals with no ability to think independently.

    Well, yeah, "thinking independently," Dean - as you know - does not necessarily mean that judges do not have their own pre-determined judicial outcomes in mind, and torture the facts, alleged logic, and law to get there, whether labeled by those on the outside as liberal or conservative, or not.

    Though these kinds of decisions are rules-oriented and intending to benefit society by recognizing "legal facts" (homosexuals exist, so how must they be treated in all things that they do), they have no driving moral force to buck them up.
