Fox still #1 among shut-ins and very old people (i.e. the cable news audience)!

So the CNN audience for its years of dominance... shut-ins and old people? No chance that was just a trite and pointless swipe?

I have no idea what it once was ... but the article says CNN was behind MSNBC, so its a ghost town now. Isnt the average age for a Fox viewer something like 68?* That's a really old audience.

    *Edit: 65, my mistake.

Not sure about the average age--I would think it is a tad lower. Main point being, as compared to MSNBC and CNN.....with FOX at least there IS an audience. Can't be said for the other two, and especially when Rachel Madcow is on. I bet the "Watching Paint Dry" channel gets more viewers than that guy Rachel ever does.

Ok, but I'm not sure what your point is, other than there's clearly more of an appetite/market for extremely partisan news from the conservative end.

Problem is MSNBC took what Fox was running with (pandering to partisans) and ran with it x 100.

Again with the seemingly disdain attitude towards the elderly, why is that such a common theme? What exactly does the age of the audience matter toward its validity? Wouldn't the higher the age be more reason for its viability -- you know, considering the decades of experience and wisdom that generally come from living a long time?

So there are not enough immature stupid viewers to prop up a bitter lesbian. Who knew?

Half of what they speak about at MSNBC is criticizing anyone who opposes liberal policies. BTW - Rachel is more masculine than Chris Hayes.

When I see twenty somethings interviewed on TV about a particular subject (anything other than weed or rock bands) they remind me of turkeys. Turkeys will stare at the sky during a rainstorm until they drown. That's the same look I see on the faces of the typical Ygener. Thoughtful and introspective? Not so much.

When elderly folks retire they move to Miami and their parents live in St. Petersburg. You are referring to the senile not the elderly.

I'm not sure why you would make sweeping judgments about an entire group of 3 people like that.

Several years ago I took a survey at our office and asked the youngsters under 30 who subscribed or read a newspaper. There were 11 people. None. Zero. Nada. I asked them where they got their news. The internet or TV and none could definitively name any news shows or hosts. All 11 were college graduates. Half are Gators.

My kids both grew up reading newspapers daily as they watched their parents. they are both young adults and still read the paper daily. Unfortunately, most of their generation would be more likely to be able to recite the contestants on dancing with the stars or the Batchelor, than who our current cabinet officers are. And they think Warren Buffet is Jimmy's older brother.
